Hey - just getting into making my own modifications to Siege figures. Not sure if this is the correct thread to post (if not let me know). Have been working on a kit for Jetfire that is inspired by the G1 design. Here is my progress so far. I plan an having this kit available for purchase if there is any interest out there. I also have kits for other Siege figures - Soundwave, Sideswipe and Megatron - that I can post here. Let me know what you think!

Looks good so far. Do they affect alt mode?

As for color matching, I just started dabbling with color match resins but ran out of black dyes recently (which I need to make darker shades). I have a red dye which ends up looking about the same as yours. If you want to color match the red better, one option is to do very light sprays of smoke (Tamiya's transparent black spray).

The parts are straight 3D prints with no painting done. The design intent for these kits is to enhance the robot mode with better aesthetics and to fill gaps so most parts will need to be removed for transformation. The red is a close match to the G1 parts. There is a dark red material available which I think will match close to the Siege Jetfire red but as of right now this is the red I had on hand. I can offer the darker red if there is enough interest for it.

Ah, ok. My only other suggestion (although more difficult) would be cannon type antennas / ears. There is a pretty good Shockwave Lab ear kit available now but not in the original cannon style. They attach via the rectangular peg and port set on each of Jetfire's ears and don't interfere with the mask. There's a black bar that goes behind the head that connects the two sides; this black bar really isn't that noticeable due to the backpack.

Edit: I can show you a picture of the peg / port connector if you want.

Edit #2: Misquote. Should be matrix workshop, not SL.

Pretty sure you mean the one by Matrix Workshop, unless Shockwave's Lab actually has their own. Is this the one?

My bad, got them confused. Yeah, that one. I have it and works out well in person. The bar in the back of the head hides well and still able to rotate head. Their antennas are not perfectly molded to the curved ears. They're flat with a rectangular peg and port in each part with a curved area more towards the back.

Wow those antennas look really good. My plan was to try to design a G1 style mask that would include the antennas but maybe this is another good addition along with the G1 mask.

You going to change jetfire's chest armor to look more like the VF1s?

As in G1 Jetfire chest armor? That would be a possibility yes.

Looks nice so far. Like the antennas too. I know it's tough to try to get a thinner head profile on Siege Jetfire with his wider face. Not sure if possible to make the mask taper out a little more to give the illusion of a thinner head.

The antennas could also taper out to a thinner point. Not sure if it would even be worth it to taper out to 3mm pegs to attach blast effects to it. Blast effects in general need a 3mm peg or a 5mm port to attach to.

Looks nice, if a bit fat. Maybe you can try modeling the thing so it works like the stock mask included in the box and modify the outward facing side to resemble the G1 head? Just a thought. Unless you need the width for the antenna to rotate or something similar.

He's looking more robotech by the minute! If you're going for an original toy look though, I'd really suggest making it thinner, It's a distinctive feature unique to the takatoku Super Valkyrie mold that G1 jetfire uses.

    For instance, (large pictures)

Is more curvy, and more form heavy, while the toy

Is very angular and simple, while retaining important forms.

My printer is a Prusa i3 MK3 and the red filament is from Amazon - AMZ3D PLA.

Yes I agree it is fatter/wider at the nose end than I would like it. Trouble is the helmet needs to be wide to fit over the his head and then to have it come narrow it would be very long. I am thinking I will need to start over with a new design approach as I am fairly new and learning Fusion360. I really do appreciate everyone's feedback and suggestions, good or bad. It helps me improve and get a feel for what people like/want so keep the comments coming!

Also would advise to make sure any blasters are Blast Effects compatible.
