I think maybe LEGO rubber Wheels would work better, but this still looks cool! Now I wish there was more Monster Truck TFs...

Thanks everyone for the kind words and constructive feedback! Who knew a dumpy set of wheels could make this much noise? Haha

Funny you say that: I’ve been meaning to do this exact mod for about a year now with CW Offroad. I figured a monster truck would make perfect sense as a member of the Stunticons. And when I saw the Crosshairs mold, I figured I’d do something similar with him, too.

I never got around to doing it myself, but I absolutely LOVE what POSSESSED_DIGIT has done here. Fantastic work!

PS- I was considering LEGO wheels as well, to facilitate popping them off as needed. I’ve thought about putting two together as opposite ends of a war hammer, akin to CW Ultra Magnus’ modular hammer.

The war hammer is a great idea. I tried to do the same thing a LOOOOOONG time ago with a kitbash, on a larger scale, but I was overthinking and overdesigning it, and never got it to work. i was trying to keep it in 1 piece and not partsform. But it was way too heavy and complicated at the time. I should try to revisit it...

they aren’t ideal for being “universal” spherical ball joints. They’re kinda cubed, and only rotate 90° inside the joint, and move side to side at 45° and 90° both ways. With some tweaking/modding they can be rounded and smoother. They’re good for this kind of mod, where you want something to stay in place better. But if you’re looking for actual ball joints you’re better off finding something else.

I already ordered that set so I'll see for myself soon. I already used LEGO Mixels ball joints and am really satisfied with them for articulation joints but maybe those Codee joints will turn out great as also being transformation joints. So things will stay in place without pegging them in somewhere. If so I might even be able to add more articulation to my IDW / R.I.D. Impactor custom without turning it into a floppy mess in alt mode :)

As I was watching MARS again yesterday I totally got that moon buggy vibe out of him, too. Have you guys tried to plug his original wheels into his rims as new rims?
I'm going to use LEGO 30324 and I'll totally try/do that and paint his original wheels red. The only bummer is that as of the last shipment update my Crosshairs will arrive in one to two months. But Amazon often manages to shorten delivery times and I have Ironhide to prepair the custom.
