Hey all. Sorry for more crappy pix. I just took some quick pix of this now, mostly as a proof of concept. But honestly it’s practically done. It may need some tweaking and tightening, but otherwise this is all that needed to be modded.

anywho, I got my crosshairs Monday, and just did this this mod an hour ago. I felt he needed to differentiate himself from Ironhide and Ratchet. And he looked weird without the big wheels his G1 toy had. So I bought a hot wheels monster truck (with red rims!) for $4 and popped all 4 wheels off the axles. Then I got lucky: Ive have these odd ball joint contraptions from a toy called Codeez (i think). They’re more ratchety than traditional ball joints. I decided to use them to attach the wheels to Crosshairs, since I’d need a way to pivot the wheels out of the way in robot mode. But when I popped out his old wheels, I discovered these Codeez were the perfect width to push right into the old wheel holes-no modding! This mod is completely reversible! And since these are segment ball joints, I can go as wild as I want. The only downside I found is when I put him on the ground, his wheels sag up. Guess the joints need some support. But all in all I find this makes him look infinitely better. So long story short, I took the hot wheel rims, drilled holes thru them, attached some of these Codeez to each rim, then popped them onto another Codeez joint, which then was jammed into Crosshairs’ wheel holes. Let me know what you think. First set has longer, more monster truck type wheels, 2nd set shorter I prefer shorter it streamlines both modes. Last 2 pix show the ‘sag’. Thanks for looking ! 8B828C50-252F-4F99-A02A-9AD555397367.jpeg 604916CD-5C07-43BD-916B-74AFCA9F5501.jpeg 10BF5C11-663E-4C88-BEA0-D7DECD1C2471.jpeg 82F85A3D-9069-470E-A093-370585B2C186.jpeg DCBC574C-9ECD-4B21-817C-4329FF3FC816.jpeg 0887F4AF-DFE5-4B1E-A8A8-9AD9B53EA407.jpeg 24EF2B6F-5F7E-4BE5-9DE0-667E51189000.jpeg C6620BD5-82AF-4925-9057-218CBDD71719.jpeg 8D5B2FFE-635E-4E30-9927-B5D6E65405A5.jpeg 67E2F247-3E1F-481F-9E54-2145877B94DA.jpeg D1561C01-1516-4CE4-80A4-448F756FB317.jpeg EF3D0436-7459-4EE0-8D69-F24F87E1A96C.jpeg 1F8301FD-58BA-40AC-8A61-99628AD7C04D.jpeg 7E08502E-884E-4286-BBF6-F7897E5E69A1.jpeg 0CA8BD0C-C088-4EF1-9127-621759C8E423.jpeg

    Just LUV it! :thumbs2: :thumbs2: :thumbs2:
Do you have WIP pictures? I'm especially interested in how you attached the axels of the wheels.

Looks great in vehicle mode, a bit bulky in bot though. Still looks a lot more fun

Here’s some quick pix of the modded wheels , and the “Codeez” things:

    231C56C6-06AD-4290-889F-0A8448E0D94C.jpeg 617C0F81-21B0-4037-B082-9492CC3BAFC8.jpeg 12010B12-EDD0-41C0-8854-6D2AD2FBEB45.jpeg 8D3FCE79-EF03-46FC-8861-80E2EDC8FF75.jpeg 527CA8D3-E910-413A-B282-BAB25363F06D.jpeg AC4D1DF7-5CB8-471D-93F3-C8E71A6222B5.jpeg

I drilled thru the wheel rims, ran a screw thru each one, and into a Codeez ball joint with the clips cut off, on the other side. Then I just popped on another Codeez onto the modded wheel, then pushed that Codeez joint into the wheel well hole in Crosshairs. Instant wheel upgrade.

Now I'm thinking about doing this with LEGO 6118 wheels and Mixels balljoints. But I'd cut the wheels in half because otherwise they'd be too wide.

that is bitchin. if only hasbro would have just doubled the width of the tires. that small change would have made a world of difference to separate him from the other mold mates. Absolutely was thinking of trying to do something similar and this just knocks it out of the park.

The only thing I'm not too fond of is the robot mode though. having such large tires, i dunno. maybe if they were slightly less wide or something. either way, so looks at the back!

Beautiful! makes him look like his OG alt-mode.

This has helped me see why they went with this mold but your mod seals the deal.

I was actually thinking of buying a junker G1 crosshairs and using the wheels from that, but this was cheaper and quicker. I can always change it up. Any wheels would work. The concept is the same.

That is AWESOME. I had been wondering how something like this may have been accomplished. What are Codeez? Is it an off brand lego?

I found them many years ago at toys r us hanging on a aisle strip, on clearance. Think Rubiks snake, but with ball joint thingies-you twist them into specific creatures, or whatever you want them to be.

    here’s a pic I found online. CODEE:

That is amazing. It completely changes the vehicle mode, and doesn’t look that awkward in robot mode either.

Are those sturdy? Because I'm really thinking about buying such a set to have balljoints for my customs.

Good idea, but it looks a bit rediculous in robot mode - maybe find some thinner wheels.

Actually they don’t look bad in person. Besides, G1 Crosshairs has big wheels on his back.

I am thinking of replacing them with something...lighter.
