Ever since i got siege Impactor I've been on a spree of collecting and making wreckers. While i was on toyhax.com looking at the set for turning POTP inferno into Pyro i came across a set that turns Hound into animated Bulkhead. I'm not really a fan of animated Bulkhead but i really liked Bulkhead from Prime. And Bulkhead from Prime was a wrecker. So with that i wanted a Bulkhead from Transformers Prime. The hound mold is really good for that IMO. So lets get in to this. As far as modding Bulkhead i really didn't do much to change him. The biggest thing was adding some putty to his face to make him have the chin. I would prefer a real head for him but i think it looks as good as i can do it without a 3d printed head. I painted the thighs green and removed a good amount of the detail paint from Hound like the hood details, saddle bags on the back sides, "battle damage" and shoulder stars. I left the autobot logo because i liked it. I wanted to make his signature wrecking ball. The wrecking ball is made from a small clear ball. I tried to make it more spiky but at the end of the day i ended up with finger fulls of super glue so i resorted to hot glue. its in 2 pieces and splits and fits around his hand for a tight fit. A little comparison pic. I would also like to make his hand blasters. Maybe I'll revisit that. Here is a comparison to show the difference between the Prime version and mine. I did forget to paint the yellow bits on the waist so i will go back and do that. I was going to paint the upper and mid portion of the arms black and grey respectively but as i have transformed this mold a lot i feel like i would scrape the hell out of them so i decided not to. Still quite happy with the color scheme though. And what would Bulkhead be without his rockin dudett Miko in the Apex armor. A view of the back. The back is modded but without actually doing any modding at all. I'll come back to that in a moment Here he is in vehicle mode. I made the wrecking ball able to store on the back like the actual toy. Ok so i mentioned I modded the back and i did. As you can see the back no longer has that black "pack" hound has...or does it? With a good view from the top what i did was pop off the back "pack" section as its just clipped on and flipped it around. It actually folds up quite nicely and fills in the empty space turning it from a hollow jeep to a filled in SUV look. I actually came across this by accident as I made an actual top out of legos but wasn't really happy with it. This was just so genius and works so well. I really love that i figured this out. I painted it up green and there you go. Here is a vehicle comparison. This mold really does look a lot like Bulkhead IMO. And target master Miko attached. I really wanted to make Miko the wrecking ball but trying to make that mold round was just more work than i wanted to do. I know Miko really wouldn't fit into the story of this being Cybertron a long time ago but meh, who doesn't love a good excuse to have a guest character. And a quick group shot of my current custom wreckers i'm in the process of doing with kup and top spin that i just have up there. Well there you have it. Wrecker Prime Bulkhead done in siege. I hope you enjoy and maybe even gives you the inspiration to make one for yourself.
As much as I like his rounded look in Prime, I can't deny this is a fantastic boxy G1 Aesthetic take on Bulkhead and great use of the mold Great work!
