Big twins fan here, and it took me quite some time to get used to the fact that we were only getting Sideswipe, and the 'Twins' in the movies were... well. comic relief. /gnashes teeth.
Somehow or other, I got used to Silverswipe... but I've always been uncomfortable that there'd been no Sunstreaker.
After seeing the various movie Sideswipe toys, I decided to repaint them so I had me own Movieverse twins, with Sideswipe as his double-blading silver self [I got used to silver over red, somehow], and with Sunny as a double gunner. So he can try to preserve his paint job, for once...

The links to the original threads are here, in case you want more pics. XD

Heh, yeah. Just glad they turned out pretty well.
Was kinda worried that the gold would be too bright initially, but when it dried to this particular shade, I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

got the idea when I first saw Sidearm Sideswipe come out, cuz I'd seen the repaints of the twins using the original Sideswipe mold, and they were nice, but... didn't really seem like different characters? not like in the comics or cartoons where they were similar, but obviously different?
Just glad they did Sidearm, so I didn't have to think about scratch-building a Sunny from... well... scratch...

OMG! That's exactly how I pictured my Sunstreaker mold when I get around to finding all the tools I need.

I was going to buy a Rally Sideswipe and paint him gold since he's a repaint of Sidearm Sideswipe. But the problem is affording the toy and buying the right kind of paint that will not get chipped or flake off with age.

Is there any tips you can offer me, mate? Please?

    Amazing job mate.

Do you have the same paint scraping issue on Sunstreaker's head that I do with that mold?

Really really clean details. I like that there is no hint that the original Sideswipe's color is there.

Great idea! You should make them triplets. Get the ROTF sword Sideswipe mold and make a ... red Sidestreaker or something. :)

was what I was aiming for... otherwise, it'd just be a color change, and it'd be kinda... monotonous?...

Rally's not a bad idea, but you'd need to paint the guns too, since they're this strange shade of blue...
hmmm. I think if you want to paint him, you'd need to consider either stripping off all the old paint with a solvent/thinner, then either sanding/surfacing him, then painting him?...
I decided to just use a surfacing spray [Mr Surfacer 1200, so it was fine enough to allow for a glossy finish], then used Tamiya Color Gold over that, with a layer of TopCoat hi gloss finish spray over that for protection, once I did all the fine detailing...
with regards to the paint not chipping or flaking off, I think sprays would be the best?... but you just need to figure out how to mask them well to prevent too much bleed. then protect it with a top coat...
    hope this helps. XD
