Does anyone know the time frame for SAL shipping to the States? I haven't had any updates on Shipping status in over two weeks. It's been on plane has landed. Am I being impatient?

My shipment of the JinBao DF03 took 64 days to get to the United States. FYI, I did have to sign for the package but lucky it came on a Saturday and I was home. There was no new tracking information for 47 days.

 

Geez, that's a long time. I think it's been in transit for 27 days, I'm about halfway there. Abbythecat said I can email someone, so I will try that. Thanks for sharing your information.

 

Sounds like it was shipped by sea. I've had that happen before when shipped by sea. Sometimes the tracking never updates and it just shows up.

 

Hi all, quick question: I'm based in Hong Kong these days, just started here recently.

Which store is better on cost and/or reliability, Show Z or Bombusbee? Or is it one of those It Depends sort of things?

Looking for advice on where I should start shopping from now that I'm living on China's front door.

 

I only have three Bombusbee orders vs something like 50 at ShowZ, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Bombusbee's been sort of a mixed bag (still waiting on the third order). ShowZ, though, really impressed me on a few levels. They pack really well and the one time I had a $100 set get lost in transit they sent me another. In terms of price, they seem to about even out. ShowZ sends every item individually and builds the shipping into the price whereas Bombusbee separates out the shipping and condenses everything into one box. Either way it takes about three weeks to reach the eastern US. I typically go to ShowZ first and other places second.

 

Bombusbee and ShowZ both tend to have good prices and shipping, it just depends on individual items who has what for the better overall price. Sometimes it's ShowZ and their included-in-the-price shipping, sometimes Bombusbee's lower base price comes out on top once shipping is added in. No reason to focus on being loyal to any one store, use what's going to be best for you in the moment.

SAL is the slowest shipping method we have, but it is also the only shiping method we have to ship oversized items

on the contrary, it is ship by air but has a lower priority compare to other commercial air shipping

Well, since you are in HK, Taobao is probably even better if you knew the keywords of the figures in Chinese

Dumb question, but why would you not just go shopping locally? Places like this must still be around... and there's undoubtedly a Hong Kong thread in the sightings forum that could point you in the direction of even more.

 

Yeah, Action Robo's still around, they were closed last time I headed down that way though 'cos it was a Sunday. Need to head down to Mong Kok again someday soon.
The short answer is that I'm reasonably far away from the TF shopping district, and it generally works out cheaper to go from mainland stores than local ones. There are some solid used bargains on second-hand sites/apps if you hunt around though.

You should really use taobao if you can. Its a very large price difference and shipping within China is SO cheap.
The beginning of this thread explains how to learn. It also lists the taobao stores that can communicate in English.
Buying Transformers on Taobao

It you still don't want to use them directly you can use superbuy.com and they can order the items for you and then ship them to you in Hong Kong. If you want to use superbuy I would message them through their chat and make sure they will ship within China. I am pretty sure they do. I have been using them for years to buy stuff on taobao and I think I had a conversation about shipping to addresses in China once. If you have a Chinese alipay express account linked to a local chinese bank you won't even have to pay the processing fee with superbuy.

The other thing you should do is I guarantee there are shops in Hong Kong that sell these items probably for Chinese retail.

If you know you want it you should go ahead and pay off your balance. The way ShowZ works is that when they get a batch of preorders, they first ship out to everyone who has already paid in full in order of payment. Then if there are still some available, they will send invoices for full payment to remaining preorders in order of deposit. I’m guessing the first batch of this figure already all shipped out to everyone who had paid in full - I paid in full a couple months ago and my Leo shipped out 2 weeks ago. If you pay in full you will prob get the 2nd batch.
