I've toyed with the idea of a selling off a chunk of my collection to focus on certain characters because I enjoy the idea of collecting across multiple lines. Some of my favorite characters are as follows:

    Jazz/Stepper
    Soundwave/Soundblaster
    Blaster/Twincast
    Ultra Magnus/Powered Convoy
    Weirdwolf
    Skullcruncher
    Mindwipe
    Technobots/Computron
    Predacons/Predaking
    Skywarp
    Springer
    Shockwave
    Ginrai
    Insecticons
    Jetfire

Does anyone here limit themselves to a character-specific collection? If so, please feel free to share some photos as well as your experiences. Do you feel it's more rewarding than being a line completist?

Being a college student and having limited expendable funds and space, I've made my current collection focused around Jazz, but since there's not too many Jazz figures, it's pretty small still. I'm hoping to soon expand into a small Hot Rod/Rodimus character collection and then maybe add a couple representations of other characters like Soundwave, Blaster, the Dinobots, and the 86 movie cast.
And then of course I have to have several Megatron and Prime figures right? :)

There are a lot of Jazz figures. What's currently in your Jazz collection?

Yes but in comparison to the Bumblebees, Starscreams, and Primes there's a little dropoff lol.

I have G1 Reissue Jazz, MakeToys Downbeat, CHUG Jazz, Heroes of Cybertron Jazz, Mighty Muggs Jazz, and the G1 deco Bayformers Jazz. Somewhere at home I also have Animated Jazz, Human Alliance Jazz, and several movie Jazzes; I just have to find them.
If he goes on sale, I hope to pick up Toyworld Coolsville and if I run into him, I'll definitely pick up POTP Jazz too

I'd get FOC Jazz. Not the best Jazz figure, but pretty good. Also, Alternators/Binaltech Jazz/Meister.

I've been eyeing FOC Jazz for a little while but just haven't pulled the trigger. I can't believe I forgot about the Alternators/Binaltech mold!! From what I've seen it looks nice and I used to love the line when I was growing up so I'll definitely add it to the list!

I don't know if Custom Robots made a Jazz. They're a 3rd party company that specializes in figures to supplement the Revoltech line.

I'm both, a completist and a single-character collector (Starscream). Unfortunately, being a completist and a fan of one of the 'classic' characters which, of course, has TONS of figs and merchandise, is not a good combination.

I'm actually doing what you're suggesting and I'm making my collection 'extremely' specific. I found it to be even more rewarding to focus my collection on not just one character, but also on one particular 'verse' (G1, or at least G1-ish to some extent, in my case). Even with such 'specific' collection the amount of stuff available can sometimes be overwhelming...:redface2:
Alas! it's not just the stuff...I also have the displays to think about...one day I'll stop procrastinating and put some decent shelves...

    Man...I'm jealous...honestly...
Don't complain, believe me..it's better that way, especially for your wallet... (completist of Starscreams speaking...)

My Primes. MPM Bee didn’t really have a home so he lives next the MPM Prime. The big hole infront of Maximus Prime is for POTP Leader Prime.

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a single Soundwave toy I didn’t like - this includes Titanium Soundwave. There are many I haven’t owned or handled, like BTS Sonicron, which looked like a pretty decent effort.

Very nice. I didn't realise MP Rodimus Prime was so big.

If you're into KOs there's a few oversize versions of CW Rodimus on eBay that are very reasonably priced.

They're on the larger end of the old scout class.

I see 2 Wheelies in your pic. If you like him, you should pick up the Titans Return figure.

It's actually an old picture, taken before I got TR Hot Rod. PotP Leader Rodimus is an instabuy as is the OP.

sold most of my toys over the summer. then decided i'd like an entirely voyager (where applicable) megs/op collection. obviously this could get out of hand quickly, so my requirements were that the op's had to have chest windows, sunbow-esue color scheme and if they had been animated, voiced by peter cullen, and if it was a megatron, bucket-head, fusion cannons, sunbow(-ish) colors and if animated, voiced by frank welker. exceptions to this were the g2 versions, the g1 toys (with the yellow eyes and all), and i had multiple customs i planned on getting done. prime megatron with g1 colors, tlk megs with a better canon, a bucket head, and g1 colors and uh... i think some beast wars versions of G1 OP and megs? i dunno, it got expensive quick and i was sick of collecting so i gave up halfway through.

I dunno if this counts as a character-specific "collection", but I do love my Jetfires. :)
