Sounds good to me, but wasn't the matrix version going to be a sdcc exclusive or something like that??

Just to clear things up: The complete series "matrix" edition was never intended to be an SDCC exclusive, but it will be first available at the SDCC. After that, it will hit online retailers, followed by an in-store release a little later. The Season One set is still set for a June release.

For anybody wishing to follow the specifics of these G1 sets, I recommend reading this thread (if you haven't already) on the Shout! Factory site, specifically, any posts by B Ward (Brian Ward).

Blu-Ray will not happen. Go look at that Shout Factory link and you'll get all the info you'll need. Just so you know, since they don't have the broadcast films, they feel it's not worth it to put it on Blu-Ray...it looks fine on regular DVD's.

Considering I have the Rhino set already, I'm holding out for "The Matrix" edition.

Ditto. I'll save up and buy both box sets and then sell off my Rhino versions. I hope the Digipacks will take up less shelf space than the complete Rhino collections. Be nice to gain more DVD shelf space.
