Beast Wars: Transformers - Shout! DVD Producer's Tweets Chirp a Beast-ly Song
A pair of Twitter posts makes it pretty clear that new DVDs are in the works

Following the classic '80s "G1" Transformers animated program came the 1996 series Beast Wars: Transformers, using GCI animation produced by Mainframe Entertainment (the folks behind the earlier CGI TV production, ReBoot). Tied to the continuity of the original show, Beast Wars: Transformers ran for 3 seasons and was followed up in 1999 by two seasons of Beast Machines: Transformers.

Shout! Factory has recently released DVDs of G1 Transformers, and after they picked up the rights to ReBoot there were a number of fans hoping that they would pick up the rights to Beast Wars: Transformers as well. The show was released on DVD before, from 2001-2004 by Rhino in the USA and Alliance in Canada. Those are long discontinued and hard to obtain, though, so fans who missed out have been looking for re-releases of the show. Now it appears that Shout! might have indeed negotiated with Hasbro to pick up the DVD rights to this series! A pair of Twitter posts by award-winning Shout! Factory DVD producer Brian Ward give us the hints we need to connect those dots. Here are his tweets from earlier today; the second one from about an hour ago

Meh. To each their own, but I can't stand Beast Wars.

When they get the rights to Headmasters/Masterforce/Victory, then I'll be excited.

I have the Rhino sets, but might actually consider buying the series again if Shout were to make their possible release as nice as the G1 set. Particularly if there are worthwhile bonus features.

Boo-frickin-yah. I lost hope that Shout was going to do this series, now I don't have to waste more valuable space on my comp. =)

Will they get Ben Yee, Larry DiTillio, Bob Forward, Mainframe, Garry Chalk, Scott McNeil, Alex Willows and Simon Furman to do commentary tracks like Madman did with their Beast Wars DVDs? ;)

Also, I will be very unhappy if the packaging isn't a big metal Golden Disk.

Awesome news, since I don't own the older sets, though I am still holding out hope for a 25th anniversary DVD of the Movie.

Nice, but when are they going to release headmasters masterforce and victory? Front get me wrong, I love beast wars, but I need some good quality, non-british acting (i am guessing its goren much better since).

I am very interested in this, especially if they include interviews with the cast and crew! :D

This is something I'll certainly be keeping an eye on! :D

I'll pass, since I have the originals, but glad to hear that they're putting out some other TF series on DVD. Hopefully, they'll be able to re-release the Unicron Trilogy and Animated, then get RiD and the rest of Animated out there at some point.

Perhaps the title of this thread should've included the words "Beast" and "Wars".
