Shout Factory announced at Comic-Con on Friday that they are releasing RID on dvd. Which one though?!

Likely the new one but would be awesome if they're also releasing the Car Robots/original RID series.

If it's not the 2001 TV series, I'm making a petition!

It should be the old one, that was the best, watched it twice.

I doubt Disney cares. (they own the dubbing company that dubbed RID)

Wouldn't the new one be expected, and not really worth a Comic-Con announcement, unlike releasing the older one that fans have been wanting?

Hadn't even occurred to me that the thread title might not mean the 2001 series. I was going to say it was a long time coming, and it's good news for all those who have been waiting.

But yeah, it makes more sense they would be talking about the new series. Oh well.

Why would Disney care either way? They make nothing by letting it just sit in their archives, but they are also partners with Hasbro in some areas (Star Wars & Marvel toys) so Disney would stand to make at least a little money from it if they worked something out with Hasbro to release RiD on home video.

I'd like for it to be RID/Car Robots, since that's the only US Transformers cartoon I've never seen in any capacity. But I guess RID2015 makes more sense.

Toys are irrelevant. Disney publishes their own DVDs, so why would Shout do it?

But hey, one of the advantages to the possibility of Hasbro being owned by Disney. THEN we might get a DVD release of RiD2001

    It could be a hint!

RID01 cannot be released on Blu ray unless they actually tried. Instead they get the rights, they would just release on DVD.

RID15 will most likely be released on DVD and Bluray and they would have most likely said so.

This is why you should never name two series exactly the same. Really lazy and dumb. Even the series name is a thoughtless reuse, no wonder the toys are terrible.

If this is the 2001 series, that would be great, but I doubt it. I'll keep an eye out just in case.

I really hope its the 2001 series since one I actually liked that series as a kid and two it was never fully released in the US for home video.

Good news, whichever RID this is.
