Don't know if this goes here or not but figured I may as well give a heads up:

    Shout! Factory

Shout! Factory is doing one of their "Going Out of Print" sales again and this one features a ton of Transformers-related titles. What this basically means, for those who don't know, is that Shout's license for these titles are expiring and no more are going to be made. For a few shows, these are the only legal way to officially watch them (namely the Japanese G1 series). Even if you don't collect DVDs, some may want to jump on this while they can as it's very unlikely that shows like the Japanese ones will ever see physical releases again.

    The titles include:
    • Transformers: The Japanese Collection Box Set
    • Headmasters
    • Super God Masterforce
    • Victory
    • A bunch of individual Rescue Bots titles
    • RID2015 Season One and three compilation releases
    • Beast Wars Season 1 & a compilation title
    • Beast Machines: Complete Series
Also listed are an assortment of G.I. Joe titles, including Renegades Season 1. I wouldn't be surprised if some other TF titles show up later on if Shout still has them.

I got it off of Amazon more than 3 and a half years ago for like $15 less than what Shout Factory is charging now lmao.

Still mad that they never did full season releases after season one of RID 2015.

Interesting. I wonder if that means someone else will have the license in the future?

We never got a US Blu-Ray or 4K release of US G1, but then again maybe Hasbro will leave behind physical media?

I’m glad I bought the Japanese G1 trilogy a while back.

If they're really interested in clearancing older stock, they need to lower their prices so that folks can't do better by going to Amazon, which more people would normally gravitate to anyway....

Aren't these all DVDs? Maybe they're dumping old stock ahead of Blu-ray releases.

Shout is out of the box set market, they will not be migrating to blu-ray releases.

Funny, I also just bought the Japanese Collection off Amazon just a week or so ago. Would like to get BW’s and BM’s complete series eventually.

I'm pretty sure these are all subtitles, no dubs. I've watched the Headmasters one, and can affirm that's subtitled.

They're all subtitled. The infamous (and hilarious) Omni Productions dubbing isn't included (otherwise I'd own them).

IIRC, the decision not to include the dubbed audio tracks came from Hasbro. TFWiki says it was due to 'concerns about accuracy' which is probably a nice way of saying "they're ridiculous."

I think we are basically at the point where nothing gets complete season/series box sets anymore with the exception of like, HBO prestige dramas.

Physical media is a dying format.

NO It's Not. The hole on line thing is good some what. But the shows do Not stay on line. They need to be made in to dvd sets.

Recognizing that shows don't stay online forever doesn't mean that physical media isn't a dying format.

It may well say that there's still a need for physical media. But if the market is dying, it's dying.
