Seriously. First Takara urgend Hasbro to turn the Dodge Ram into Optimus Prime.
Then they decided not to release him in Japan at all.
Instead, they will release another tiny, expensive version of G1 Prime with weird proportions and a craptastic vehicle mode.

So instead of boycotting the Hasbro release, wouldn't a boycott of THS G1 Convoy make a lot more sense?

NOTE THAT I AM NOT ASKING ANYONE TO SERIOUSLY BOYCOTT THE TOY. This is merely an attempt at getting a serious discussion about why everything Takara release at inflated prices and with horrendous quality control is automatically pure gold, whereas everything Hasbro release is boycott-worthy for the sole reason that Takara don't release it.

I am boycotting it because it is horrible. He is just horrrrrrrible. Horrible. Whoever designed that? Get out.

Overloaded with detail and carbs! OH JOY! And the price? A STEAL. Feh. I'll stick with my Robotmasters Prime, it may be crap, but at least it's cheap crap.

I'm not boycotting it per se, but just not buying it. It takes something really special for me to buy something from overseas. I've got enough incarnations of G1 Prime right now, and don't need another.

If you like it, buy it ... if you don't, don't buy it. Easy as that.

Hypothetically, if people do like the figure and boycott it anyways, it'll impact sales. Less sales = no THS-03.

I would think this would be a moot point unless you lived in Japan. I doubt the companies rely much on the import/export business for their sales. therefore, as such a drop in the bucket, we only count for gratuitous profits for them. I would think...

All I'm going to say is what I say with all boycott's.

Do what you want, I know I will as I have a thing called free choice.
    If I like something I'll buy it, if I don't then I won't.

    It's really that simple.

A Boycott isn't a command, which is how you're addressing it here.

But lets not forget that THS-02 is ugly and probably sucky! YAY! Saved!

*wobbles hand* I err on the side of Alt Prime, purely because it's a new take. Can't say I'm crazy for it, but certainly not against it.

I haven't really decided yet what my take on THS and Alt Prime are yet, and would probably end up preferring the Alt only because it's more bang for my buck, easier to obtain thanks to being a domestic release, and larger (even moreso than other Alts, which makes me happy).

Way back when THS GF Convoy was announced, it sounded really cool, but then I heard about its size. I started collecting Chogokin figures this past Christmas, with a gift to myself (GD-76N Gigan! Whoo!) and originally wanted the THS guys to go alongside them, but Gigan would tower over him, and Convoy (G1 or GF) is only about $10-15 cheaper. Pass.

As I said in my initial post, my intention for this thread was not "This toy is teh sucks, don't buy it because I don't like it!", but rather "why would you complain about Alt Prime but defend this thing?"

When I first heard Takara was making a THS version of G1 Convoy complete with trailer, roller, etc. I was really excited. Despite my love for TFs, I still don't have the original G1 Optimus. Ultra Magnus, yes, PM Op yes, 20th Anniversary yes, but not the very first version. This seemed like a good way to get all the goodness of G1 Prime in a nice, compact package.

But it turned out to be ugly and fat with a tiny head and serious forearm wattle. And the trailer, while very nice, is horribly bland without all the colorful decals from the original version. Plus it has that stupid Energon axe, which really annoys me for reasons that escape my understanding. And, of course, it's only 10 cm tall and $50. For half that amount i might consider it, but I'd likely still pass. :thumbdown

True, a boycott isn't a command, but still I'll decide myself if I'll buy it or not.

And I wouldn't boycott a figure just cause a company changed there mind about rleasing a figure (which could have been caused by factors outwith our knowledge)

The red Gigan is an absolute badass (Even my girlfreind likes it) and I totally agree. I pre-ordered the last one because of my SOCs...but he's the size of a Microman figure, and only slightly larger in full armor. I may be passing as well.

No. Neo-G1 is, once again, Hasbro's proposed toyline to fill the gap between Cybertron and the movie. This is something entirely different.

A Neo-G1 Prime would be a full-sized toy, not so tiny that he has to get on a footstool to speak to Bumblebee.
