As we know Optimus dumped his flight tech while steam rolling the grounded Cons. Later he gets pinned down by fighters.

Now Optimus may have learned from his Jetfire pack experience to eject a pack rather have it destroyed in a ground fight.

It think it would have been cool to have an air to air battle Optimus using his flight tech pack taking down some fighters.

 

Optimus might have gotten paranoid of flying after getting tangled up.

 

Of course it would have been awesome to have Optimus have an aerial battle with Decepticon fighters. Look at what they accomplished with Starscream's dogfights in the 2007 movie; and that was with a smaller budget than DOTM.

 

i think Optimus's epic 45 second rage scene was fine enough for me  

 

I would have liked a Jet Optimus vs flight-capable Driller myself.

 

I would like to see a slow mo cut a fighter in half when optimus flies past one (like sideswipe killing sideways)
