Or how often should a new character/figure be released?

There's how waves per year? 5...6?
Maybe that's too many (or not) but I think we should at least get 1 new character in every size (well, at least up to leader)

    Thoughts?

***EDIT: new ORIGINAL characters. Not new versions of pre-existing ones.

I'd say no on a leader, we only get 3 a line, I'd say every wave (being 4 waves) would be great, I love Alpha Bravo and Offroad. Lets go!

I want deluxes and voyagers not something that will probably stay in hammer mode all the time
Barricade was kinda new since that was one of the first time he was introduced into chug and that felt like breathe of fresh air

New OCs are hard to sell without media support. If they make a ton of new ones in Cyberverse or the comics, then they could be as frequent as the number of OCs you have. They probably shouldn't put more than one in each wave though (a leader would definitely be pushing it).

Alpha Bravo and Offroad sells (I think) we're 20% excitement for new character, 80% compulsive need to complete combiners. The new targetmasters are an easy sell because they are easily added to displays and more weapons are always good.

OCs without some form of integration or media support will be difficult to sell (which is probably why Ironworks is a weaponizer or whatever they're calling them in ER).

It would be nice to see more new or non-G1 faces. Even if they are just repaints or simple retools. I would have loved to see Wolfang or K-9 in TR, and Siege Rhinox from hound, tell that would not be awesome.

We should at least get a new character as a deluxe and a voyager per series.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I'm down for some new characters, but on the other hand, I don't think Generations is the place for them, at least, not for their debut. Given how many people threw a fit over Drift and Windblade and Victorion (although I love those characters for the most part), I do think Generations is more the place for updates of existing characters. I wouldn't object to new faces being introduced in Generations, but I feel there should be some prior media appearance in cartoon, movie, or comic form so people will want to buy the new character.

That said, I would love for them to bring in at least one new character every new cartoon, and maybe a couple of new faces every now and then in the movies. I would like for said new characters to be released in the Deluxe or Studio Series or whatever the mass-retail collector friendly toyline is at the time.

As a compromise I would suggest any existing characters that haven't gotten a (proper) release before. They'll be new to folks in stores anyway, and the fans get someone they maybe never thought they'd see.

A further compromise would be Selects or Hasbro Pulse (much as I hate exclusives). And I keep saying compromise, but I personally would like to see new characters so long as they at least look cool in bot mode.

Sure. Particularly if it's a new mold.

Agreed. I like that they've been hitting some super obscure guys like the Titan partners and Powerdashers that might as well be new characters, but you need to keep cycling in fresh ideas

off the top of my head: There was the whole Victorian team, the Megatronus team from Unite Warriors, Rung in Siege (yuck, yuck, yuck) Battletrap's individual modes, Brunt, while not 100% new never had a bot mode before, in Earthrise we have the Micromaster bases becoming "actual" Transformers. Was TR Stripes new? Siege 35th had Soundblaster which is, i believe "new" to the US, if not to us hardcores... oh, Redwing and the 2 Rainmakers that weren't Acid Storm....

except for him being a low-effort repaint :mad
(super salty because i want a CHUG Barricade - and Blackout! - that in a time virtually all repaints get a new head, and they already have designed the evergreen Barricade, that he was just a straight repaint)

so a new character counts unless it's one you, personally, are going to keep in one mode the whole time?

yes in terms of WFC, I would like to see some more original characters (or just making some more iconic non G1 characters like Prime Knockout or Bayverse Blackout G1 cannon)

but as for SS, no, there's already enough designs in bayformers that we need and this is our one shot at getting them.

I wouldn’t mind new characters particularly if they aren’t repaints/remoulds

They wouldn't need media support if they brought back old school tech specs.

I remember liking G1 Kick Off's design when I saw him as a kid for the first time in my local toy shop. But it was his tech specs which won me over with his portrayal as a vengeful ex gladiator.

He was also an original character among a line of older characters.

Personally I'm happy with new characters appearing in CHUG. It expands the G1 cast. Even in the IDW comics I was glad to see non G1 Transformers appearing with the classics.

I really want the Siege Seeker mold repainted in the G2 Seeker and Actionmaster Thundercracker colour schemes since IDW used them as new but unnamed background characters. Nothing worse than repaints that are meant to be the same character.

Short answer: the more the merrier!!
