I was looking at the Robot Replicas figures a little while ago when a thought came to mind; could they be considered Action Masters? Could any licensed Transformers action figure that does not have multiple configurations be considered Action Masters?

For those who don't know, the Action Masters were a G1 gimmick from near the end of the Marvel comic (so early 90s). The entire idea of the line was that the figures did not transform (kind of an oxymoron by Hasbro), and instead were basically action figures that somewhat represented the characters.

    Here's a few:

And here's a few of the Robot Replicas:

    Thoughts?

I would say that it is what ever you want it to be. I like the idea of them being considered action masters though.

Action Masters and the like are for fake fans who are too lazy or scared to actually transform their Transformers. But if companies see that those fake fans are willing to spend money on non-transforming Transformers figures, then they're going to get that money.

Hundreds or even thousands of dollars for some high-end non-transforming statues or figures? Feh!

    No transform no buy.

No, they shouldn't be. Action masters are 3 3/4 figures with vehicles and playsets. It's not a type of Transformers, it was a line in the late 80s early 90s.

By that logic, look at all these action masters!:

I get that some people need them to transform, hell I do most of the time. But Transformers is a Noun, not a Verb. Transformers is a franchise, Furi Optimus is a Transformer, Siege Optimus is a Transformer who transforms.

I thought we already did? Action Masters is like an umbrella term for all non-transforming TFs. The only reason we came to call them AMs is because they were the first.

    Action Masters was a toyline.

    Robot Replicas was a toyline.

The umbrella term is already there within the industry- Action Figures. They're just Transformers characters instead of GIJoe or The X-Men characters.

    :lol

Okay, mate. I take it your answer is 'Yes', then, although your reasoning suggests you're answering an altogether different kind of question or just one of those folk looking for an opportunity to put the boot into an officially licensed sidearm of the franchise that last time I checked was still branded 'Transformers'.

Guess I'll wear my 'fake fan' badge with pride as I enjoy these figures alongside my thousands of other Transformers toys and appreciate the wonderful diversity and variety within the brand.

    As you were.

I would've thought gatekeeping would've been added to the site rules by this point.

There’s no room in the fandom for this “fake fan” bullshit. If you like any Transformers, in any capacity, you are a fan, and are not obligated to justify yourself to gatekeeping assholes.

Honestly? No. Action Masters are action figures with Transformers as partners. Just like a Mega SCF collector is a person who collects toys they don't choose to play with.

Which are so rare that there might be no living examples on this fansite. So... Yeah. :confused2

Not too sure if they should be called action masters , but the idea is kinda there with the namesake ReAction line by Super 7 . Honestly wouldn’t mind if they did action master again , would love for a updated articulated marvel grimlock .

But for now I just call them what they are , model kits , action figures and statues .
