Should Hasbro put M.A.S.K. under the Transformers brand like they did with GoBots?

 

Only if we're going to get some actual figures. I'd totally buy some MASK toys that scale with Transformers.

Something along the lines of the Human Alliance deluxes. Those were fun.

 

I'd be into it. Especially if we get little, in scale, figures of all the MASK people.

 

I'd be into 3 options:
1. Reissue old MASK toys
2. Make an updated line of MASK toys
3. MASK/TF crossover - TFs with attack modes like Omnibots

 

Never cared about MASK. Besides, didn’t Transformers basically do that already with Masterforce?

From a toy line perspective, I think having dedicated human characters messes with the scale in a way that would hinder the Transformers brand. And, if you don't have human pilots, is it really M.A.S.K.?

That said, I would love to see the occasional M.A.S.K. homage in Transformers. Characters like Tracks and the Omnibots are basically M.A.S.K. vehicles already. A lot of Cybertron toys had a M.A.S.K like vibe to them, with flip out guns and such. So robots that turn into cars with battle modes isn't new to the brand. An Autobot named Thunderhawk that turns into a flying car would be awesome.

Also, I think they missed the boat by not redecoing some of those RPM Stealth Force toys as M.A.S.K. vehicles. Optimus = Rhino, Bumblebee = Thunderhawk, Hound = Gator, Gears = Jackhammer. They wouldn't have been perfectly accurate, but I'd have bought 'em.

 

Like GoBots? No, But a shared universe like GiJoe? sure. I don't see why Mask and Venom can't be attempts to reverse engineer transformers tech with Venom being a splinter cell of Cobra and MASK being a specialist unit of the Joes.

But I'd be totally ok with homages to those Mask vehicles in Transformers as new characters etc.

 

RPM was before Hasbro was more open to the idea of homages to old brand as well as before M.A.S.K. was brought back in a way.

 

Hasbro had a Matt Trakker figure in the modern GI Joe line in the year preceding the RPMs initial release.

If Hasbro would try an all-inclusive universe again maybe with a crossover line of toys, MASK is the perfect bridge between GI Joe and Transformers.

 

This is the only way I’d accept it. As thats pretty much how it works in my in-universe story. MASK comes about by the government reverse engineering Cybertronian tech. I’d just make Venom just another terrorist group who deals in the black market selling and buying Cybertronian tech. While MASK itself is just a top secret project. the codename being Project MASK. Matt Tracker is the only GI Joe brought aboard while the others are government recruits.

 

As it was in the 1980s, not the trash that IDW rebooted it as.

 

Better if Transformers was re-branded as a MASK off-shoot.

 

I liked M.A.S.K. as a kid (toys are in a tub somewhere in the basement) but I wouldn’t be interested.

 

1 singular character representing M.A.S.K. and 1 or more representing V.E.N.O.M. General Manheim hires Matt Trakker to reverse engineer Cybertronian tech but when Trakker realizes Manheim secretly works for a neo Cobra sect Venom, he takes his technology and runs becoming the masked hero Spectrum. He would end up a member of my version of the trans-Hasbro superhero team the Revolutionaries but there wouldn't be a proper M.A.S.K. franchise standalone.

 

Make them Titanmasters and I'll buy them.

 

Okay so I asked because to me it has felt like M.A.S.K. has been connected to Transformers more then G.I. Joe as of recently, I mean with M.A.S.K. being used in TF Prime, M.A.S.K. vehicles being used as Transformers in Beast Wars Uprising, the M.A.S.K. technology being connected to the Transformers in IDW, and last years Amazon exclusive Micromasters figures being based on 2 M.A.S.K. vehicles.

 

No, MASK should be a covert, urban division of GIJjoe.

 

This would depend on if you want the vehicles to be Transformers that can change their alternate modes, or Earth vehicles re-engineered from Cybertronian tech.

I'd like to see a story with the former version at play, since IDW gave us the latter. Have them be Autobots/Decepticons working with Earth organizations, and have the Masks be communication/symbiosis devices.
