i enjoyed the look of gotg but it boggles the mind how anyone can say that film had a good ending with the ridiculous notion of all the main villain had to do was step foot on the planet yet he insisted on sitting in his throne room...also the dancing segment that saved the day? bollocks

    john mctiernan or mel gibson

every man deserves a chance at redemption

I'd take that dance off joke any day over random cuts to humping dogs, leg-humping robots, farting robots, etc.

hah, no way..while all of what you mentioned is silly in it's own right, at least megatron wasn't defeated by jetfire's farts, ya know?

however, to be fair, shockwave was felled by a parachute so touche

He'd do a *much* better job with screenwriting consistency... that's for sure.

I'd welcome Gunn to the TF world in an instant.

The Guardians of the Galaxy films are among the few that I enjoy as much, if not more than, Transformers.

I also personally don't want any director from the MCU to jump on here.

My choices would be ... J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird, Joe Carnahan, Matthew Vaughn, Gareth Edwards, Zack Snyder, James Wan, Justin Lin, Shawn Levy - watch Real Steel, its awesome.

No he shouldn't. His career is really hot right now. He can do anything he wants. Now is the time for him to cement his reputation.

Why would he want to take on a stale franchise where he has to work with Michael Bay's reheated leftovers?

The only reason for Gunn to take on Transformers would be if he were already a TF fan to begin with, or if Paramount/Hasbro showed up with vast amounts of money, gave him carte blanche, and made him an offer that was hard to refuse.

I'm just looking at this from James Gunn's point of view. From a Paramount and TF point of view, he might prove to be an excellent choice.

James Cameron would be the dream director for TF. No one can do an epic sci-Fi blockbuster better then Cameron.

There's only a couple issues with him though..

    1) he's tied up with Avatar sequels for the next 10 years.

    2) even if he wasn't doing Avatar sequels it would still probably take him 10 years to make a TF movie because he's such a perfectionist.

Snyder is too much like Bay. Style over substance. He can tell a good story, but it takes him 4 hrs. The director cuts of Watchmen and BvS were much better then the theatrical cuts. But a good director should be able to tell the same story in 2/2.5 hr movie.
