I just got my 2nd Alternator today, the SDCC Rodimus. I'm a little disapointed in my other one, Convoy and feel I should have left him sealed. So I'm wondering if I should release Rodimus, or leave him in so he can make me some money in a few years.

If you were disappointed with Convoy (you have KP Convoy, then? Or ALT Prime?), what made you get Rodimus?

You must have thought he looked cool...only one way to find out if your impression was right or not ;)

    Open him up man.

I am all for MISB in my collection but Alt Rodimus is a nice figure which benefits from some play.

Its one thing I wish Hasbro would sort out - collector friendly packaging. My KP Rodimus has been in and out the box many times and I can still display it in box, without it looking damaged. Why did they put those godawful plastic bubbles around the Alts?

I guess it really depends on whether you prefer opening stuff or keeping it for investment purposes. That said, Optimus Prime is a pretty disappointing Alternator and shouldn't be taken as representative of the quality of the whole series. Rodimus, however, is one of the best figures in the line and definitely worth opening up and fiddling around with.

I open most of my toys for display, but I do keep some sealed. It's nice to know Prime/Convoy is at the low end of the scale (Honestly I think Alt Prime looks unfinished) and Rodimus is at the top. No wonder i was disapointed in Convoy. I'll keep Rodimus sealed for the moment, but if hes a better toy I might open him later on.

    Thanks.

Open Rodimus - he's one of the best in the line. Optimus however is probably the worst by a long way.

Well, as it goes for me, I'm following the NVidia-Logo: "The Way it's meant to be played", so opening it is quite normal, as I really want to transform all my Figures by myself.
It doesn't matter what TF i got and how many Videos are around YouTube, i simply want the experience of transforming it.

BTW: still need green Credits in MetroidPrime3(Wii)

This is one of the rare times that I would say open...Alt's packaging is not that impressive IMO and these figures do shine displayed in their robot modes...I have only Skids and have no regrets opening him...

I open everything! The Alt/BT were meant to be displayed. If the only reason you collect is to resell later you should buy bonds and not transformers!

You know it's not really a Transformer unless you transform it! Otherwise, it's just a car stuck in a box. So, open it and display Rodimus in his glorious bot mode!

Alt prime/BT convoy is a terrible figure. Don't judge the entire line based off of that. The mirage/rodimus mold is probably the best in the line, or at least one of the best. It actually has things like articulation beyond just a slight bend of the knee.

Plus there's some crappy little cybertron figure you can buy for pretty cheap to steal the pipes from to give to rodimus http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=149857&highlight=rodimus

OK, after me cursing Hasbro for making it so hard to open a little box and buble.
    He's out!

Aww man, whats with all the Alt Prime hate? That mold rocks!
    I own four Alts:
    Windcharger
    Prowl
    Ricochet
    Nemesis Prime.

I would easily rank the Prime mold over any of the others. With the god-awful Windcharger mold at the very bottom of the pile (still above the vipers though, had a quick fiddle with a friends Alt Dead End, hated it. Worst chest and legs on a TF I've seen)
