if you don't like transformers, leave the fandom.

if you're ashamed of collecting them, find new friends.

Sure, leave fandom...but only if you are no longer enjoying it. If you leave because of the way people look at you when you browse the toy aisle, or the way your friends talk about it, or etc, etc, etc, you're leaving it for the wrong reason. If you let others change a harmless hobby just because they think it's strange, then you're letting them have power over you. Take a look at "them" and ask yourself, "Do I really want these people controlling aspects of my life?"

I sure don't. Stop caring about what people think of you. Do what you think is right. You'll be a lot happier in the long run. If I would have done what others wanted of me, right now I'd be stuck in a laboratory someplace testing water samples and getting cancer from the chemicals I used to test said water. Instead, I'm a partner in my own business, I teach drum lessons for a living, I have a wonderful wife, a brand new baby boy, and my TF collection is huge.

    Life's pretty good.

I've voted yes because I'm tired of indecisive people in our fandom, your removal is one step closer to a better world

Why's it gotta be an "In the fandom or outta the fandom" thing? If you don't like the toys that are out right now, don't buy 'em. If you don't feel like posting on these things, then don't mess with it. And later, if you do, then by all means.

And as for being embarrassed about buying these things, I used to get that. Then I just stopped giving a fuck. Like, "Oh, no, the night clerk at Wal-Mart might think less of me."

But hey, do whatever you think is rite.

The fandom is all about changing people's minds, anger and hate- all in the name of transforming robots from outer space.

Why wouldn't you want to be a part of that?

well firstly you only need to be a fan of some small part of transformers to be part of the fandom you don't need to spend X amount of money to be a member (well unless you want to join the OTFCC). So don't just make a dramatic exit when in fact your still a fan in some respects.

also I can totally see why you care what others think but honestly.... 99% dont give a s**t they might think its odd but I dont think any one has been ran out of town for it

Agreed. I ran into this guy once at TRU while I was living in Columbus, He was loading his cart with tons of TF's, and talking to me about how he's a "true fan" because he buys at least 2 of each toy that comes out. To me, that doesn't make him any better a fan than someone who just enjoys watching the show. If you like TF on any level, you're a fan, and thus part of the fandom.

This is a pointless question... the only person that can truly answer this question is YOU. If you stay, enjoy yourself... if you leave, who'll miss you?

    ^AWESOME^

I am starting to pack up 300 plus transformers to move back into my parents house at the age of 37 since my dad just got laid off from his job...

We battled many times when i was in my 20's about me collecting...told my mom and dad that they collect crap (mom collects lladro and my dad collects tons of nintendo games) so what was different about getting transformers?

They piped down many a year ago...now they realize that this is just something that is part of the total package(of their kids likes and hobbies) and i am also starting to get back into GI joe again....

If you are truly bothered by what people think of you....you might as well as quit the hobby...then ask them to dress you and feed you and get them to offer their opinions about everything else that is a part of your life...sorry to sound like an ASS but you gotta man up and be an adult and put your foot down and draw a line and tell them to piss off if you truly like collecting TF's

    otherwise...

    Quit.

It looks like the general consensus is "make up your own damn mind." That and I don't think the OP has shown back up in this thread since an hour or so after it was posted. So with that I think this thread has run its course.

    Nighty-night.
