If your name was Ironhide1975 I would say yes, please leave the fandom as quickly as possible.

If you like TFs, so be it. Yeah my friends think I'm a little odd for collecting toys, but really, they don't think less of me for it (at least, I hope not ...:sly2: ). Don't let it bother you, it's your hobby. But it probably is a good idea to take a break for a little bit, sort things out.

Personally, I'd only "leave" if I became hopelessly addicted and dead broke. Luckily, I'm a picky collector.

    I don't see why you should. >> <<

I mean, I think it's harder to buy Transformers toys as a high school student, and I do it anyways.

If your self esteem is that low and you change so other people will like you, there's something wrong with you. There's a difference between liking and respecting. If you change so others like you, they'll never respect you.

It does not matter how old you are, and no one should tell you any different if you like collecting "toys" you should make it a hobby. I walk into a toy store like Targets, K-mart or any toy store and I go searching for any Transformer toys. I am a woman in my 30's and I like collecting Transformer toys, t/shirts etc so my friend you should not feel goofy or immature about buying these items :thumbs2:

    Do it.

I'm not going to beg you to stay because you are worried about what others think.

Didn't read the entire thread so if I'm reiterating anything, I apologize.

    Look.

If it's bothering you this much? I don't think there is anything left to talk about. Leave the hobby.

If you don't give a rat's ass about what other people think, then stay.

    It's as easy as that.

incidentally, what the fuck is "the fandom" anyway?

if you mean you cosplay Bumblebee and masturbate furiously over KISS Players listening to Lion, the hells yeah - quit the fandom right this minute. you should also consider euthanasia.

if you mean you'll stop posting on transformers forums, spending your spare cash on toys and wearing a tatty old decepticons tshirt, whatever man. if you feel better about yourself go for it. Liking transformers is somewhere between childhood nostalgia and liking giant robots, both are slightly sad but hardly the end of the world.

I go to strip clubs and collect TF's. I'm so torn!

My female coworker thinks I'm a bit crazy for collecting as much as I do, and buying some of the bigger ticket items (MIB Black Zarak), but at the same time she respects it. She is also not one to talk since she buys hooker boots every other day, and doesn't even plan on wearing them...I've heard of people collecting NASCAR shit, and other odd things, so collecting something like Transformers seems actually sensible to me.

Besides, I think the real problem here is that you still consider them "just toys", where as most of the mature fandom considers them collectibles. Get past that, and I think you'll find your answer.

    nail on the head, man.

there is a degree of insecurity about the whole toy collecting aspect - they don't magically stop being toys after a couple of decades. the little statuettes? they're collectables. the SDCC exclusives, Masterpiece figs and WST too. they were produced soley for collectors and aren't likely to turn up in my son's toybox. the stuff you buy on the shelves of walmart is... less so.

i'd imagine that after more than 25 years collecting, most of the mature TF fans have realised and come to terms with the fact that they collect toys. collectable toys, but toys designed for children nether the less.

Hey could you close that door on your way out? It's kinda chilly in here....

But seriously, don't leave because of other people. Do what makes you happy.
