I was browsing the Seibertron.com site and like how he looks.

Is he an homage to Gen 1 Jetfire/Skyfire? I notice the head.

And is he a Hasbro exclusive? If not, what's his Superlink counterpart? I can't find it. Any difference between the Energon/Superlink versions?

He was in the first wave of Energon. Definately a Skyfire homage. They wanted to name him that, but couldn't get the name. They called him Skyblast instead. One of, if not the best deluxe in Energon.

I'd pick him up. I think he's one of the better basics from Energon. He feels surprisingly solid and I like his design.

The only thing that I dislike about him is that the energon wings/fins tend to fall off. There's nothing to hold them in place.

As far as I know he isn't a Hasbro exclusive. You should be able to pick him up for a couple of dollars at this point. Go for it.

He's a sweet fig. that I only saw once and, lucky for me, he was in a BOGO pack. Insane Galv - picking the camera up now! Expect a PM within the hour.

It's not a bad little toy. I'd go for it.

The Superlink version was called Airglide. Only difference I think is that in robot mode the Autobot symbols on his fins are painted instead of left white like the Energon version. I think Airglide might be kind of hard to find nowadays.

Deffinately one of the better basics out of Energon. Some people might dislike his lack of knees, though.

He's a fun little guy. The degree of articulation alone makes him neat as a poseable figure. His colors and vehicle mode are cool, as well.

Would be kinda tough for that to be true, seeing as he's a basic Omnicon and all... :D

Skyblast is a neat figure. The almost-automatic transformation leaves no waist articulation, and the cockpit can get in the way if you want to rotate his head, but he looks good, has a nice big weapon, and there is the bit of homage. The only disappointment is the unpainted symbols, which can be cleared up nicely by tracking down Airglide instead. Otherwise, Skyblast shouldn't be that hard to find these days.

He's cool. Nice little jet mode, very well executed with or without the Energon pieces. Robot mode is nice too, few points of articulation here and there missing, but for the most part he's good. The spear / railgun is a great weapon.

Should you buy him? Abso-freaking-lutely!!! I liked him so much I bought 6 of him. :D  Yeah he rules. Never got a Japanese version though, but I probably will at some point. The only difference, which I believe was already pointed out, is that the autobot logo on the wings is painted on both sides instead of just one. It's such a shame they never repainted him.

One of my favorite Energon Basics. I think the transformation is pretty slick and the 'bot mode looks great, alt mode looks great. You can't go wrong.

One of the best basics in the Energon line. You can't go wrong to purchase it. Besides you should be able to find him dirt cheap. Try the buy and sell thread here, I'm sure you can find plenty there.

Yeah I agree, get it. The lack of knees and the energon pieces falling off his wings is really annoying, but otherwise it's a great little toy.
