I couldn't get hold of Jazz in 2007 but upon going to TRU yesterday, I saw his allspark power version and I was torn between him and Sideswipe (but got sideswipe obviously) the thing putting me off is all the blue. Should I get him?
Definately the Original or the Premium if possible. Unless you are a big fan of the Allspark blue for some reason. The best thing about the Allspark ones is the packaging. I picked them up on clearance just to anchor my movie collection MISB. And for some reason I havent even used them as that anchor in the display yet (probably shows how good they are).
personally i prefer the g1 style one, BUT if you want a movie style one, i suggest original. i was not a big fan of the premium ones personally, myself. but the allspark ones, were just not that great, with the blueness. BUT if it's cheaper, i say go with that...
I think Jazz is one of the few on which the Allspark blue DOES look good. And where other people love the Premium, I don't really feel it. Jazz's color wasn't silver in the movie, but a slightly darker metallic gray. The Premium just whips him a shiny silver coat, but I prefer his original plastic (even thought it may look a bit swirly). As for the mold itself, he's a bit of a squashed bot, but not too bad. If you can't get the original I think the Allspark one is very decent as well. Personally, I have the Final Battle one
I plumped for the G1 redeco. It's really nice in vehicle mode but plain as shaved balls in robot mode.
Get Animated Jazz instead. He's a far, far better toy. The movie one is all big chunky legs and tiny spindly arms with lousy articulation.
I actually dig the allspark power decos (target exclusive in the US: Tube cases) They work for me because the blue paint is placed in a way where you can only see them in robot mode. The vehicle mode retains the original colors. like its powering up when transformed. Brawl also carried the effect well. Barricade I only really liked for the red frenzy.
