AFA is an absolute rip-off. and remember. toys are NOT an investment.

iDD...... been collecting seriously since '99, hope it counts for something

I honestly hope I am wrong, and you get a good grade.

My comment was based on the pics of the tape. It looks like different types of tape on each end.

Blow the pics up of the tapes, one side looks like 2 pieces of thin tape,(legit???), the other side looks like a single cube of wide packing tape directly in the center of the tab,(legit....NO).

Grading company will reject it on tape alone.

Yeah, that is strange. Good catch. Though, the Chinese releases used different tape sometimes compared to the US versions. E.g., cars and jets have much fatter tape than the US version. So it could just be something unique to the Chinese releases.

I've never seen a MISB Fort Max before, so I don't know, honestly :p  But I wouldn't worry about it. Even if the US release was one way, the Chinese release could be completely different.

Even if AFA does reject it, you'll still get it put in the acrylic case, which is what you want, right? I mean, I guess rejected toys have the stigma of being possibly resealed, but better to try to get it graded and find out than to never find out and risk letting the tape come off from age on a possibly sealed Fort Max. That would suck.

I cannot provide a thorough description for my own reasons.

The wide cube of packing-like tape is wrong.

For 300, no way. But would be nice to get a display case custom fit for it, too make sure it stays the way it is now

Considering its popularity and size. You better get it AFAed before the tape becomes undone on its own.

I would open this bad boy. the condition alone will keep the value. also there arent too many MIB unused fort max's out the either.

I would definitely not open it, as there are very few left misb in the world. If you really wanted to mess with it, just buy one loose. I too had a misb fort max in mint box, and regret every second since that I sold it.

People need to keep in mind that there are Sellers with less than honorable intentions browsing these Boards. I refuse to provide any info publicly that would help dishonest people scam collectors.

A little overprotective............rather err on the side of caution.

the only time I have ever seen a misb toy have two differnet types of tape sealing it was when i bought two TFC starscreams(from different sellers-in a span of 6 months-seperating the two). the tape on top was fat, and the tape on the bottom was thin. after i bought the first one-I opened it thinking it was resealed. I sold this one. I bought anothe one, and the exact sme thing was going on with the second as the first. I struck me as a little odd. but i have never seen a G1 toy with this going on. the only time I have seen it is when the seller cant replicate the original tape when wanting to reseal it.
