Hasn’t that already been done in comic book form?

I’m pretty sure the original poster meant “immediately after” and not “centuries after”.

G2 was better written though I hated the appearance of the Liege Maximo. They should have used Overlord as the Liege Maximo. Overlord had been described as a new breed of Decepticon on the edge of known space which is how the G2 Cybertronians were portrayed.

Regeneration did a great job with Rodimus Prime who I'd have loved to see in G2. Blurr was a badass too actually using his speed in combat.

The main flaws for me with Regeneration were:

    Using Andrew Wildman.
Turning Spike into a third rate version of Circuit Breaker.
Too much focus on the overrated Wreckers and Kup.
Turning Scorponok into a one dimensional villain.
Using Thunderwing as a Mcguffin. He and Scorponok were the two best villains in the G1 comic and both were wasted by IDW in Regeneration and the main IDW series.
Not giving newer characters like Kick Off and Acid Storm some of the spotlight.
Not following the old trend of basing character models on current toys. It would have made more sense to see Soundwave reformatted to his WFC Cybertronian alt mode after 20 years back on Cybertron rather than his limited tape deck mode.
Turning most of the Transformers into those shadow things at the end.

So as much as I liked Rodimus Prime in Regeneration and Guido Guidi's art, I'd much prefer to see G2 continued with flashbacks on occasion bridging G1 and G2.

Or pick up where season 2 ended and pretend the movie, season 3, and 4 never happened

Yeah, I think Furman should be chucked aside at this point. He was great for latter G1 and G2 but anything attached to that afterward has been either weird or uninspired. Not sure about bringing back Bud but I think a fresh knowledgeable take would at least prove interesting.

I'd also like to see someone take on post-Rebirth. And track it like you would back in the day, with each year introducing the "new line" of characters working its way through G2. So post Rebirth, you'd get 12 issues focused on Pretenders and Micromasters, then 12 issues of Micromasters and Actionmasters, then 12 issues of early G2, then 12 issues of Laser Rods, Cyberjets and GoBots...etc.

I'd prefer Season 2 never happened. Or better yet just continue on from More Than Meets the Eye part 3 and include the 86 movie with all the deleted scenes added. Absolutely no crap like Kremzeek, Lord Chumley, Alpha Trion and Orion Pax.

Redo Regeneration but get James Roberts and Nick Roche to write it. Like many of us, they grew up with G1 UK and they've both proven themselves knowledgeable and more than capable writers.

I'd love to see Roberts' time travel story from one of the Auto Assembly magazines in comic strip form.

This solely so the TF:TM new bots could be brought into the fold in a good way.

    Yes, they absolutely should.

And maybe Hot Rod wouldn't be fucking framed this time.

Agreed on Roberts, I’d say he’s done in terms of TFs. He will forever be known as the one who made Scorponok pregnant and joined the long line of writers who believed their own hype.

I'm much more interested in a proper comprehensive reprint of the combined US/UK Marvel run before we start talking about more sequels. And maybe it's because I just don't care that much for the cartoon, but the Japanese continuity has it's own continuation that then goes beyond even what they animated. And we're finally gonna be getting some of that stuff with the manga translation. I just don't really understand the need so many fans have for a continuation of the Rebirth specifically.

How about getting Bob Budiansky to do Transformers Returns which is set thirty years after G1 issue 55 showing where his characters are now.

There are more fans of the cartoon than of the comic.

That was such a minor forgettable plot-point that didn't go anywhere. Nobody is going to remember that.
