Should Darkmount have been a remold of WFC Megatron?

Much as I love Generations Darkmount, I can't help but think that WFC Megatron would have made a better Straxus toy. The flying tank alt-mode is very close to Straxus' comic appearance and Megatron has the pointy knees that Straxus had. With a new head and a different gun with a scope designed to look like Straxus' face mask and a way to peg the gun on the back of the robot, he'd have made a great Straxus. As it is, there doesn't seem an obvious repaint for WFC Megatron.

God no. Do you know how rare it is for an obscure character like Straxus to get a new figure, let alone his very own mold?

Not in a million years. The one we have is great, matches Straxus' robot mode wonderfully, and is a truly unique toy. That would be a horrible idea.

    NO!

    NOOO!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

As much i love WFC Megatron's mold, Darkmount Straxus needed his own mold. They are two totally different tanks.

I don't think there is a single person on Earth who knows about Straxus that would think a remold of Megatron would have sufficed for Straxus, especially not when so much was done in such an awesome way for the Generations Deluxe.

I see where you're coming from.... if a new mold weren't an option, Straxus would have been a good repaint idea for WFC Megatron. The ship mode is similar, and you're right about the general triangular motif of Megatron working for Straxus. Not to mention the whole Megatron-Straxus connection, giving some logic to them sharing a body.

I like the Straxus we got, and I'm glad we got a new mold for him, but I think your idea definitely has merit.

Someone wants a repaint instead of a new mold for once? Whoa.

How would you account for his pickaxe?

It's just really hard to visualize the idea of Straxus being a Megatron remold looking as good as the figure we got. The figure we got is truly awesome, so no.

The triangular shape is the reason I was hoping Animated deluxe Megatron would be redone as Straxus so I can totally see the logic of it too. What we got is amazing but part of me still hankers for a Cybertronian mode version. So I say bring on the repaint in addition to darkmount.

Did you just ask for a Straxus sans pickaxe? What would possess you to do such a thing? I'm glad that Hasbro can't reverse time, take your advice, and retroactively suck.

I will always take a new mold over a repaint, unless the repaint makes absurd sense. I wish Mattel's DCUC thought about new parts and molds the way Hasbro does.

If they ever decide to make an Emirate Xaaron and it absolutely has to be a repaint, they should go with the WFC Megatron mold.

There is absolutely no need for every mold to get a redeco or a retool. None.
