I sometimes go out on Black Friday at about 9AM, after the crowds have died down, but probably won't bother this year. I'm more likely to check out Cyber Monday and see if there's anything I want/need.
I never used to because all the sales started right around the same time that I had to be to work at 4:00 AM.Now with all the stores starting their sales earlier,I get up a couple hours earlier and hit the stores around 3:00 AM.It's great because the stores aren't busy at all because most of the shoppers are already done and the selection is usually still pretty good.
I usually only buy dvds or video games, and Amazon pretty much matches all the retail store prices, so I just stay at home and order what I want. No fuss, no muss.
I don't shop on Black Friday. I can't stand the crowds, finding a parking space and traffic. I believe in the old tradition where stores should open 5am of 6am on Black Friday where employees can spend the whole Thanksgiving day and night with their families, friends and loved-ones. Back in my younger days, you never seen stores open at 9 or 10pm on Thanksgiving night.
I don't shop Black Friday because I don't have the time as a manager for Wal-Mart. I pretty much have to be there during the major parts of the sale and most of the good stuff is gone by the time I'm off work. Honestly, I'm hoping that people wise up in a couple of years about Cyber Monday. All the sales that Wal-Mart has on their website for Cyber Monday are the same darned sales you can get in store on Black Friday. Less crowds, less hassle and less headache.
I got a 3ds for my birthday, so I hope to get some games. I do cyber Monday. I went out Black Friday last year around 9 am, and the stores were empty of people by then. Missed out on some deals though.
my wife and i go occasionally, look for good cheap deals, but i really hate Black Friday, it's mostly just a scam... a few really great deals, while other things are regular priced (if not higher) and they just make a crapton off of it. I'd rather spend a few bucks later to avoid the crowd.
...not really. if you're planning to buy any gadgets for christmas it can be worth it to wait till cyber monday, just to see if you can get any bargains. I bought my wife's main christmas present (contractless smartphone) last year for 50% off what it would have been otherwise, just by waiting for cyber monday and checking all my bookmarked tech sites. It even ended up being on a cheaper network for the PAYG plan.
I don't do Black Friday because I don't like crowds and Cyber Monday because there's a huge wait and the internet is slow. Granted I did buy my desk top from Best buy, on Cyber Monday but I got lucky on that one. I rather wait and buy gifts or items in December.
Yes, "spend money on products day" is weak, no matter what they call it. It's consumerism at it's worst. The fact that they title it and make it into some kind of crap holiday where saving money is more important than human decency makes me a little ill, and now there's a whole new one to pig up the internet? Yay. Sorry if I'm not completely enthused.
