In the first episode why didn't Megatron left Starscream back on Cybertron instead and took Shockwave with him. With Shockwave by his side Megatron would be more powerful, cause Starscream ever cared was his own self, and Megatron knowing that Starscream is not around he would't be worried about being backstabbed. What you think?
Which makes more sense: A) Take the loyal soldier with you and leave the backstabber behind, where he could potentially build up followers and overthrow you when you return? Or B) Take the backstabber with you so you can watch him, leaving your army/territory under the watch of someone you trust?
Shockwave wasn't in the cartoon. That was Shackwave, but they mispronounced his name. Kinda like leaving Rumble blue, it was all a mistake. If you want to know about Shockwave, you'll have to read the comics
Plus, hasbro wanted you to buy Starscream, not Shockwave, hence they didn't show Shockwave that much.
Megatron can trust Shockwave (in the cartoon). Starscream can't be trusted with guarding Cybertron in his absence.
Really? I remember him sitting there with Jetfire, priced at $25 and all ready for the Christmas 1985 season. I already had Shackwave since last Christmas, so I just had Jetfire and the Coneheads under the tree.
Don't forget that Shockwave was licensed, therefore not available in all markets, and not as profitable.
exactly This is the cartoon not the comics. Nothing we ever saw in the cartoon really suggest that toon Shockwave was very powerful, no less, he didnt have the ambition to take over. toon Shockwave was no threat to Megatron what so ever. Shockwaves "toon" characterization was "DIFFERENT" then the comics or the toy bio, but it wasnt a MISTAKE. But I agree, comic/bio Shockwave was much better
Marvel Shockwave is a much more dangerous ally that Starscream could ever be. Sunbow Shockwave is the best minion a evil warlord could ever have minus the can't shoot to save his own life.
It actually explains why Shockwave still has a cybertronian form in G1, since he wasn't reformatted by the Ark.
