Shockwave is finally done and took me over 21 hours to finish! I did not bleed too much for him, but he was hard to draw because the source picture was so dark. He is about 22 by 17 inches. To see my other school projects including more TF stained glass go here: http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c233/Aut...ool%20Projects/ Enjoy! Source image Front Back Bonus! The window I restored for class the last two weeks while I worked on Shocky.
Very cool! I'm a novice at stained glass (just two basic pieces done), but I'm glad to see it is possible to make your own custom designs with cartoon characters. I would like to try this with ReBoot characters, as well as TF, and my other favorite shows........ once I become experienced enough. Questions: 1. how long have you been working with stained glass? 2. would something like this image be feasible?
To me, faces scare the crap out of me. There is so much detail that to make them look right you either need to make it huge to make the pieces handlable or stylize it. If you can paint, it is doable, otherwise it would be freaking hard. I am not a painter myself. Part of the reason I did Shocky was he has no face. Prime had a face plate and Unicron is dead so if his fave looking funny, it added to the image.
I don't know if many of you have worked with stained glass before, but I have. I must say that I doubt I'll be working with it again. Stained glass isn't a forgiving medium. AW, props to you man for taking a challenging medium and working with it to make it do what you want. That's truly what honing a skill is all about. Nice work man and keep it coming!
