New here. Just started getting into these toys. Picked up a Generation 1 SHOCKWAVE in box (opened) the other day. I've heard of knockoffs. It looks legit to me, but is there a guaranteed way to tell? Yes, it has black screws on the handle, the eye has a golden/yellow finish, the date stamp and logo are on the inner right leg, etc...I just want to be sure it's not a fake. I'll post pics once I'm allowed. Thanks in advance! Noodlez
does the box and the figure look like something that is 30+ years old or does it look brand new? Was the seller from the US or overseas? What price did you pay for it?
I paid 175 at a local Comic/Toy shop. I've seen several online that look to be in super nice shape. The black cord has a little cracking to it as well. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
Honestly, that box looks way to nice to be original. I have to ko shockwave myself and the only difference I could find is the legs were a little looser then and original. If I remember correctly I paid $80 for mine. The front of the box, there is something weird. Looks like a double of the artwork of shockwave.
That looks like a ko. The box is too clean for that price. Is there a second box on the inside that's giving the double image of shockwave? Cause that's not normal.
Yea sorry about that. That's just a cutout piece from the original box that was left in there. I think the original owner purchased the newer box for the toy, but the figure meets all the key points when determining it's legitimacy. Better pics when I get home this evening.
That figure looks pretty not-mint to be a KO, but I'm not an expert. Pro-tip, you can use the upload file button to attach images directly without having to link to photobucket.
Johnchow604 already posted a full pictorial review of the KO with a comparison to an original: KO Shockwave comparison review
