I see series one is out on DVD now. Play.com lists one of the extras as a '60 minute pilot episode'???

I think they made a 60-Min pilot, then scrapped it when a full series was commisioned.

The pilot was clips we have already seen though. Well from the reviews I read, it had scenes from the episode with the cabbie, restaurant, John shooting and such. I guess it was just a bit different then episode 1 because some scenes are missing and apparently Sherlock is more socialable than the actual aired pilot.

The first ep was broadcast on PBS last Sunday; very nice indeed! Can't wait to see the other 2... and the ones being worked on for 2011.

Oh, for anyone down in the US, PBS Masterpiece will be streaming the three eps for a limited time.

Thought I'd revive this since new episodes have been airing to see what people think of it so far. Currently I have no opinions since I've taped the two eps aired so far and am waiting for the final one this coming weekend so I can crash through the lot in one go next week.
Better or worse or the same as the first series?

Episode one of series 2 is so far my favorite episode of them all. I love the interactions between Sherlock and Watson and I just LOVE how they handled Irene Adler. Episode 2 was weaker, in my opinion, but still good. Can't wait for the third episode.

My opinion is similar, but "the great game" just about edges "Scandal", for me. "Hounds"was good, better than "the blind banker", worse than the others (which is still pretty damn good. Sherlock is one of the most consistantly good shows I've seen, so comparing it to any other sherlock episode favourably is a massive thumbs up..)

Third episode looks great. Wonder what the connection is between
    Mycroft and Moriarty

I thought it was humourous that the hounded man is the werewolf from Being Human.

Loved the Adler one, enjoyed the Hounds.

I love this series so much. I think the first episode of season 2 is better than both of the Robert Downey Jr. movies combined

Yes I agree Sherlock is far better than the Robert Downey Jr version. My favorite version is still Jeemy Brett though.

Should I watch this series? I heard it was good but I lost interest when I heard it was on modern times [I think Sherlock Holmes loses something of its charm when transported to modern days].

Usually I'd agree, but the way they do it works, as they don't lose the core of the sherlock and watson characters

I may give it a shot.

Also, how's Moriarty in this? He's my favorite villain in the history of literature. He better be good or I'll crucify someone.

He's definately evil, but his interpretation is a little different than previous versions which had him as the evil older polite gentleman. You can tell he's obsessed though.

Jeremy Brett's Holmes all the way for me.

I tried the current TV version and gave up after around 20 minutes, not suprising really as I cannot stand the work of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss on Doctor Who.

OK, watched Hounds last night and it was great. I liked the way that the touched on a couple of other classic mysteries, but still did their own thing.

Oh god, The Reichenbach Fall was amazing! Definitely the best episode of them all (imo) by a landslide. I haven't enjoyed an episode of a tv series this much in a long, looooong time. I love how everything was handled and if the show returns next year, it'll definitely be interesting to see how things are handled. Man, I really hope there's a third season!

    My guess.

He had to kill himself, so he teamed up with Polly and threw a fake body that they had altered to look like him off the roof. There was time between Moriarty killing himself and when he called Watson. Enough time to put on a show They set up the plan before Moriarty showed up as a back up. The one who was going to shoot Lestrade was probably Moran
