He-man's sister gets a new series on netflix.
She-Ra Cartoon Gets Netflix Reboot
Cool. Maybe they'll try again at He-Man if this goes over well.
Beat me to it! I have no idea why it hasn't occurred to me that Netflix is the perfect home for MOTU. They could do a whole new show or pick up where 200X left off. I would kill for more MOTU in any form..
Me too. I love MOTU. It's such a shame Mattel simply doesn't do anything with the property. This could be a step in the right direction if it's done well.
I'd love for a continuation of 200x. Will they start it like the original with Adam's search for Adora? Will she start out working for Hordak like the original version? I hope Hordak will be as badass as they showed him in the 200x version.
I completely agree but I sort of understand why. Mattel is an utter disaster I am guesssing closer to failing than we know.
I have had the worst customer experience with them; worse than any company ever. And I am not going to fan bitch I just think it's depressing that they cannot perform online sales.
They are actively trying to get purchased. They had that big shake up recently.... I think the company is sick and it's starting to show.
Anyway that's why they won't do anything with the property. Companies that are in trouble don't take risks. Netflix would have to go to them, they aren't doing it on their own....
Man, I miss that show.
I've got the entire series on my ipod. It's 1tb so I have a lot on there.
Step 1. Hire Stjepan Sejic to do the visual design.
Step 2. ?????
Step 3. Profit!
It's interesting that they would do She-Ra before He-Man, but I'll certainly check it out.
Curious to see if He-Man plays a part in her origin, or if they go a different route.
I thought the 2002 show was done well and it didn't ever seem to get the traction it needed. I hope this new version of She-ra does gangbusters.
Well this time there doesn't appear to be a Toyline that if it fails will cancel the series like what happened with 200x. THat series like Young Justice and Thundercats did really well ratings wise, but the toyline's failure was due to too many He-man and Skeletor variants. And like Young Justice and Thundercats was cancelled when the toy line didn't do well.
Huh? Why would they make it adult? Netflix does plenty of original content aimed at kids. Like, every single one of their DreamWorks exclusive series are aimed at kids in one age bracket or another.
My wife will be ecstatic about this.
First Captain Underpants & now She-Ra? Dreamworks just struck gold with Netflix more than ever.
Looks like someone watch the Gnomes episode of South Park to celebrate the news.
I didn't.......but it isn't a bad idea.
"The cartoon’s reboot is described as “a modern take on the ’80s girl-power icon for a new generation of young fans” that will be “led by a warrior princess tailor-made for today."
I need to see more on this before I can really judge.
But at this point, it feels to me like a "female audience is the trend so let's make a show for them" move. I hope I'm wrong though.
I hope He-Man gers a cameo appearance. I don't think they should try to take away from He-Man.
And I wonder if this has anything to do with the live-action He-Man film, as to whether He-Man's film means She-Ra got a show, or whether the show's success will manage a MOTU film, etc.
I read that as, "My child is now an adult." But perhaps I read it wrong.
