Huh. My boyfriend was just talking about wanting them to make a Captain Marvel movie last week.
He looks more like Captain Marvel than Cavill does Superman, imo. And a billion times more than their Barry Allen and Arthur Curry do their respective characters. So it's all relative.
Personally, I still think The Rock should play every role: Black Adam, Captain Marvel, Shazam, Billy Batson, the voices of Talky Tawny and Mr. Mind. Just make the whole think like Nutty Professor style. Would guarantee the tone stayed light and not sink into the typical DCEU mire.

"It takes a long time to make vfx heavy movies."
SHAZAM Director David F. Sandberg Is Getting Ready For The Inevitable Fan Backlash To His Movie
It will be an interesting experience making a movie where no matter what choices are made there will be some who passionately hate you. “Shazam has a hood on his cape? Motherfucker!!”. “Shazam doesn’t have a hood on his cape? Burn in hell!”
Well, he's in good humor about it.
I think you'd have to keep yourself in good humor when taking up a project like this. His cheekiness aside... his comment is pretty spot on to what'll likely happen when the costume is revealed depending on which costume they choose to take inspiration from. Now, of course, those might be a vocal minority in the grand scheme, but it'll still be there.
DC's 'Shazam!' to Star Zachary Levi (Exclusive)
First Adwale, then JK Simmons, then Willem DaFoe, Then Joe Mangiello & now Chuck.
Marvel just lost a MCU addition.
Actually Zachary Levi played Fandrall in both Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Interesting that he's now goimg to be Shazam in this film. Not my first choice, but I can see it working.
That when I meant the Chuck part cause of Levi. Kinda funny this happened before Thor Ragnarok comes out next week.
Ah, okay. That makes sense.
You can thank my Mom for that. She was huge fan of the show.
Well he can act like a kid, he did it half the time in Chuck. Now lets see if he can bulk up for the part and how hell look in costume.
I only saw Levi in Thor 2.
But if he's going to be comedic in this, I would perhaps call that a good thing, because Capt Marvel is a child in a hero's body and does some funny stuff occasionally.
Hope Shazam in the movie is like Goku.
That's actually a good comparison! We'll see.
And when I mean Goku I mean the DBZA version.
