Hey everyone, Recently, I've been scanning + posting all the 3rd party comic Transformer comic art I have (bio cards, pack-in comic books, convention comics, etc.) When I got to the comic-styled booklet images from iGear's 'Evil Leader' -- essentially a purple, downscaled version of Takara's MP-01, I found after restoring it's look post-scanning, I got a bit carried away with my art restoration. PP-01E (Purple), with some stickering from CapturedPrey's exclusive SG sticker set can turn this figure into a proper Shattered Glass Prime, one of my favorite character variants of Optimus Prime. I decided to really make this image the best it could be. It's been a while since I did any digital art - I use to do alot of it for a game mod I worked on all during university. Since then, I've stuck to physical arts, beyond photo correction, etc. It was fun to work with Photoshop artistically again. ^_^ The original (see attached) had a really crappy orange (?) glow effect around the figure, and the head didn't look nearly as good as the portrait from the front of the box/booklet. I chopped the larger portrait into pieces in photoshop, and 'warped' them into place early on in the process. Afterward, I spent a few hours cleaning up artifacts, dodge/burning, outlinining, and created a new saved selection for the figure + an outter glow effects layer. I have the original restoration (just a cleaned up scan), in addition to the redrawn, recolored. I've included both the booklet's 'portrait' front cover with text, and the cleaned up (text-less) version too. I'll be printing my redux and the text-less portrait shot as 8x10 posters for my wall. I thought others might like to check it out too.
Thanks man. I'm considering doing a Nemesis prime revision of my revision, since I still have the layered-version in Photoshop handy.
