I decided I wanted to make my own Shattered Glass Nightbeat instead of trying to track down an original from the 2008 Botcon custom class (and besides that, the Energon Hot Shot mold it uses wasn't that great at the time, and today it's terribly outdated). The TLK Cogman mold really appealed to me for several reasons; one, it's a Headmaster so it homages the original Nightbeat, and two, it's an Aston Martin like the original SG Nightbeat so it works as an homage to that as well. For SG Muzzle, I elected to use TR Loudmouth instead of the actual TR Nightbeat for the greater likeness to Nightbeat's typical look. It worked perfectly to replicate the colors on the Botcon Nightbeat and it neatly inverted Muzzle's normal color scheme (yellow shirt, black pants) to give Nightbeat black "ears" and to give Muzzle a logical "evil mirror universe" color scheme (black shirt, yellow pants). And of course the Loudmouth Titan Master vehicle got in on the act too. Ultimately, even though I lose the ability to combine my SG Nightbeat with a SG Thunderclash (which I don't own either, but also plan to make my own in the future), I'm more than happy with the gains here. Actual articulation and posability! And as a fun Easter egg: according to SG Nightbeat's bio, he suffers from a cosmic rust infection. So, since the Cogman mold has actual gear detailing under the chest panel, I was able to paint some of the gears rust-colored to give him his disease! I'm still teaching myself on customizing, so there's paint chipping and subpar coverage in numerous places, and hopefully someday I'll have time to touch him up and maybe even add the black stripes on his doors that he's supposed to have. But it's time for my 10,000th post here on TFW, and I wanted to do something a little special.
sorry but, THREAD BUMP! This is really cool! A lot of good homages and references to different versions of the character and really good paintwork.
Great minds, etc., etc.! It is a great bod for the Detective. I'd totally forgotten his Hot Shot bod was also an Aston though, someone had to point it out to me on Insta!
Looks great Where did you get the insignia from or did you make it yourself? And do you have a picture of the Titan Master sitting inside the car?
Don't apologize for the bump, it's gotten a lot of new eyes on it! Yours is simply gorgeous. Can definitely tell which of the two of us has the skill... The insignia came from a sticker sheet from Captured Prey, as I recall, sadly they're no longer around. I didn't take a picture of Muzzle sitting in the car but I will do that soonish, this weekend at the latest.
