Those were repurposed toys. And I do agree that the writers of the Botcon and OTFCC Shattered Glass comics went crazy with repurposing toys, and made some questionable choices.

I really don’t think some people here understand what Shattered Glass is.

So I ask them,

• What is the general concept of Shattered Glass
• What makes a Shattered Glass toy different to their positive universe counterpart?
• What would positive universe Evil Flamewar’s color scheme be on the Legacy Prime Arcee mold?

 

I am in on Shattered Glass, but much like during the Botcon run, I am not going to be a completist on this line (even if I am in deep), and this is one I really have no draw to.

 

Each year there’s been 12 Gen Selects figures in the line, this year there was 7 while 5 figures were in Shattered Glass. I believe the final 5 were moved under Shattered Glass as they could get an increased budget, that’s all.

I heard from a source that the Shattered Glass figures for this year were actually originally in Gen Selects anyway, but the new name got more budget allocated to it. It’s the same reason Cosmos is in Velocitron and G1 figures were originally put into Studio Series - HasTak has a yearly budget, and it’s all about fitting the toys in where they can.

And Flamewar hasn’t ‘taken’ a slot from a pure Shattered Glass figure, it was always planned to be released here. Finally, any other Shattered Glass figure they want to do can be released in any line, they can sell it where they want to. The name on the box is largely irrelevant, it’s just a way of getting the product out there.

My god this site sometimes.   People actually got a figure many have been clamoring for since Legacy Arcee was first seen and... we actually have people complaining that she came in the wrong box and is "taking away" a slot from another "more deserving" character truly from Shattered Glass (which in itself is a line of random repaints thrown together without any real rhyme or reason originally because someone at FunPub had a boner for Mirror Mirror). Honestly, who cares what damned box she's in or what line she gets released in? And as far as other "more deserving" characters from Shattered Glass... as long as people keep buying we'll get more next year. So other than timing and the "me me me" "now now now" crowd... it's irrelevant.

 

They'll never admit it but c'mon, Prime is the only line they broke their record of heroic slavishness.

To be fair the show models cheat the conversion even harder than BW. Instead of robots with animal parts, you have intricate design's that basically ignore the vehicle has to happen. Knockout and surprisingly Bulkhead rode the change up pretty well, but the bike robot? When they have so many bike robot options in G1? You can't say she's Flamewar's pretool, but you can't not say it.

TBH just saying that last statement makes me feel a lot better. Of course they could have colored her pink and said she's Energon Arcee. They're ripe for do-overs since the toys were the models and many have not aged well.

 

So most folks love that this gal exists, but it's that she's in the wrong line that has some folks in an uproar.

I'm one that thinks everyone should be able to voice their displeasure with something without being mocked for thinking differently, but this one is certainly taken to the extreme even for me.

Congratulations TFW...you broke my brain.

Some people just need something to hate rather than just accepting things as they are. It's a cool figure, people can buy it or not buy it as they please and it's not like the police are going to arrest anyone for not putting it with SG figures and instead putting it with mainline figures and vice verse  

 

SG Flamewar follows the Shattered Glass deco rules PERFECTLY.

Because a legitimate category of Shattered Glass deco scheme is: "We want to sell a toy of this character in its typical colors because it'd be popular, but we're doing Shattered Glass right now."

But, but, but.....THE RULES say that if they share a deco they can't share a mold  
Though as you point out with Alpha Trion, that figure represents both SG Alpha Trion and G1 Alpha Trion (via the Legends mobile game in 2013), so any "rules" are entirely fictitious and aren't actually established rules. Oh and FunPub repurposed Titans Return Alpha Trion (with no changes) as SG Alpha Trion as well, so there's another instance of positive universe and SG universe sharing a mold and deco.

This entire thread is proof that some people have too much fucking time on their hands

 

People argue that this character is in a misplaced line  when Buzzworthy has characters like Terrorsaur. I dont see how its worth getting upset over

 

I for one hope Flamewar did take a slot from another SG character because I think shattered glass has long overstayed it's welcome and the novelty wore off at least a couple of years ago now.

 

Both Arcee and flamear have wheel heels, and yet Hasbro for the life of them could not manage that. . . Overall nice figure but definitely not SG

 

Studio Series was all Movieverse... until it wasn't.
Buzzworthy was all reissues... until it wasn't.
Shattered Glass was all Shattered Glass... until it wasn't.

Tune it tomorrow when we find out, I dunno, Revenge of the Fallen The Fallen is part of the Beast Wars Reissue line for some inexplicable reason.
