I didn’t think it was tape at first, since you can see multiple layers hanging. Perhaps he just has a set of fashionably dyed bandages?

I remember hearing these guys were based on obscure Beast Wars figures. I think someone said Yamanaka was based on Transmetals Cybershark. That's the only one I remember, though.
EDIT: Apparently Gauma is based on Stinkbomb, and Asanaka is Spittor.

As each day passes, I want this more. I'm currently collecting peoples' opinions from different sides of the fandom to see if I should start a campaign to get this or something. I dunno. It's worth a shot.

 

Still, i could also see the unreleased G2 Grimlock with Gauma. And Koyomi seems to be quite reminiscent to TF2010 Deepdive.

 

I was really hoping they would have announced the release date. Sounds like the show isn’t going to air by the end of the year.

 

I like that they’re confirmed Transmetals. It’s a super different but cool niche to go with after Shattered Glass.

Okay I think Asukagawa might be based Beast Wars Metals Waspinator. Similar colours, almost the same shape as her top with the red in the centre of the chest. And the other big one is the little antenna off Waspinator’s head, which are pretty close to her braids.

 

Real fitting considering the series revolves around the dinosaur robot.

Yeah, if the characters' color palettes are based off Transmetals, then who's color palette is Yume based off of?

Also, apparently someone on Twitter made the argument that Gauma's colors might be based of Sky-Byte's? It's hard not to see it...
