So When I heard a while ago that Hasbro had trademarked the name "Sharphot", I was instantly excited to see what cool figure was gonna come out of this name... and then I found out that it was the new name for Shrapnel... I hate this name being used for the Insecticon (at least Hardshell has "shell" in it and works somewhat for a bug) and this name would fit some kind of sniper or weapons expert or something. Getting into my recent Police bot obsession, I decided to make a new Sharpshot for Prowl's personal army. Meet Sharpshot, Prowl's go-to guy for sniping 'Cons right between the eyes. He's a repaint and slight head retool of Generations Drift that I quite literally put blood, sweat and tears into making. I cut my thumb and index finger knuckle while shaving off parts of the helmet (first time doing this kind of thing). I was originally going to just paint the skirt black and paint white over the red kanji and swooping red lines, but quickly realized that the whites don't match at all. I then thought to just paint the entire surface of the car white to match what I've done, but that was starting to look horrible. I finally decided to give the team a little "variety" (yeah, a black car in a mostly white car team lol... Prowl's not racist) and paint him all black with just the white doors I had planned in the first place. the result turned out way better than I ever imagined and I'm really happy I made him. It was then a case of shaving the head spikes to distinguish him from Drift and give him a slightly more generic look. I still have many finishing touches to make, like a clear coat, more police stickers from Prowl and Barricade reprolabel sets and someone on facebook recommended I make him Tokyo Police, so I'm gonna find a pic and copy whatever katakana or kanji they put onto Sharpshot. I took the original swords and gave them to Drift (they needed to be replaced), then gave Sharpshot the Blurr rifle that I hadn't been using (Blurr isn't a sniper... 'nuff said). I also included a pic with my new KO Deep Cover, who I'm doing a bit for in terms of joint tolerances and painting up his engine block to be his light bar. Hope you enjoy UPDATE: I took a pic of the 4 current members of Prowl's army so far in vehicle mode. We have Prowl, Clamp Down, Deep Cover and Sharpshot. Robot mode pics will be up soon and hopefully more on the way as soon as possible. UPDATE: Here's the current crew in Robot mode and with Clear Coats on Sharpshot and Clamp Down finally. I thought it'd be cool to pose them like they're on an "op" and Prowl is having them stop to give orders
When all is said and done, I wanna see group shots of this police car army of Prowl's you've been assembling.
yeah I thought that would be a good idea. didn't want to have a light bar sticking out of his chest and if you put it any lower, he can't transform lol. It was just a good way to use the molded shapes that were there Glad you like it!
Oh I will, don't you worry. I'm gonna try and add more pics once I get a clear coat on him. I just worry about the paint. once the clear coat is on, I'l transform him back and have a shot of the squad so far
oh yes I do. I think i told someone else (possibly on the Clamp Down thread that I made) that I plan on making 2 kinds of car Autoroopers (3 from PRID Ratchet and 1 from RTS Jazz, all using heads I've commissioned on Shapeways), possibly 3 Jet Autoroopers (made from Energon Starscreams and another new head), a Police Sunstreaker (gonna name him Patrol) and a Police Jazz (Five-O). That, plus Energon Prowl (gonna name him Chase) and Checkpoint from the SWAT 2-pack, maybe the original blue Energon Prowl (dunno an alt. name for him), Police-Type Gasket from Galaxy Force and maybe another Custom down the line. Yeah, this is gonna be awesome. I love the idea of Prime being naive enough to give Prowl enough firepower to almost take over and turn Cybertron into a Police State planet if things don't go his way lol
