True dat. I do like the way Grapple's arms look (and I believe IDW Pyro had yellow arms too in Last Stand of the Wreckers) but the open-palm hand design is not very 5mm-peg friendly (Maiden Japan had to custom cast a very oddly-shaped handle for his Grapple rifle to fit the grip). I basically took apart Inferno's stock ("water blaster") cannon and shoved that into the hand as a makeshift grip. It's a very tentative fit, to say the least.

hah trust me i wish. it was actually really really close to being made by x-transbots. but it fell through. they did not think it would be practical due to the base figure not being so available

Unfortunately this makes sense. I had to search long and hard to find one at a reasonable price (thanks AA!!!). I can see the issue being that those who have a mold are most likely using it for it's intended purpose. For me, I already have other molds for Inferno/Grapple so the Generations one I purchased was strictly for this project.

So I'll be happy to post some pics once that wonderful package is received :)

Shame that deal with XTB fell through. I'd much rather have this than their Boosticus/Fruiticus add-on (if they had made it for Platinum Bruticus, then maybe).

So how smooth is this polished, strong flexible plastic? I'm basically looking for something as smooth as the plastic on any of my figures I already have and I don't know how much Shapeways has improved.

I've got my print and am applying it, got the head painted. I can confirm that the shoulderpads are a pain to get on as you almost have to remove every screw to get them in but I wanted to merge an Inferno with a Grappel for it anyway so I did that while i was at it.

Sort of had a series of accidents with the pin for the chest panel :s first I screwed up on the bit on Inferno, so used the one from grappel, then couldn't get the pin out of the shapeways part, so I've just left it for now, maybe drill the hole out a bit in the shapeways part before applying the pin so that it will go all the way in and doesn't stick out slightly preventing the chest being flush in Robot mode.

One thing though; I can't get the kneecaps to work in Vehicle mode. In robot mode they look the part but when transforming they stop the arms from plugging into the sides of the legs.

im glad you got it man! and that you are enjoying it for the most part.

yeah sometimes each print is different so the hole size might be a slightly different fit for the pins.

the knees were my only issue that i couldn't find a way around. so they just kind of have to sit on top without plugging in, or you can cut the tab slightly on the arm to still plug in but from lightly higher up

when you do get it fully painted, let me know. id love to see how it looks as iv not painted mine yet

Actually, I'm less concerned with how smooth it feels and more how smooth it looks. If what you're saying is right, the quality is definitely noticeably different from plastic, right?

yeah it definitely is a difference. i still have yet to paint mine, so I'm not sure how they will look when both factory toy and shape ways parts are painted and with each other.

but I'm sure you can find from other shape ways buyers how the parts look when they are painted
