Hey I have modeled 3-d for years and I have been using Sketchup for my work to mock up things as well.

These models I made passed Shapeways test for viability but I was just wondering how much flash people think I would get in those small vent areas.

I know there will be some clean up for the plastic but those aren't going to be completely full of plastic or anything, basically if I have to carve out all the small details completely I might as well make them from styrene.

I know you can't tell me 100% how each one will be but I was wondering how much clean up you had to do on any small details like that or had any images of raw stuff out of the box.

    They are 7.398 w x 2.058 d x 8.008 h so that will let you know some size reference.

    Thanks

Actually attaching the image would probably be more helpful ha.

u mean those "relief" details? if they are like 0.5mm above the main shape it should be good enough; anything smaller, the details may get lost or get blurry, especially for polished WSF.

    likewise for "grooves"

but 1mm relief and grooves are failsafe dimensions so to speak

this is only speaking from WSF printing only, tolerances are stricter for other materials like alumide etc. ultra frosted detail should be even more tolerant than WSF though i never tried it myself

Yes those would be a pain to clean out if there was a ton of flash on them.
