?

What are your thoughts on how to release this kit?

  1. Get Shapeways done by Spring. Painting req'd, but it will be quickly available for all 5 FOC molds

  2. Take up to 1 year to design & release via 3rd party. I can WAIT so I don't have to PAINT.

  3. Do both Shapeways (release soon) and 3rd party. (KO's will likely happen but I want the original)

  4. I just want SOMETHING to fix my Bruticus--a low-priced knockoff is all I need

Great work echo... We might need some sort of back covers just to round the Gestalt out.

I'd love to have this for my Bruticus, but alas...I'd never be able to match the paint so it will forever remain a dream. Damn colorblindness! I mean, it really is looking better and better man, great work.

I was originally not liking the shoulder piece for Blastoff, and something about it still kind of nags a bit (I think maybe the shape), but it really does help beef up his shoulder to make it look better proportioned.

I don't think it can be overstated how much of an improvement those parts make. You paint skill ain't too shabby either. ;)

    Well done!

Not sure why everyone is worried about color matching on this one? It's Bruticus we are talking about here. Just go G1 and dye everything a medium gray... done. ;-)

I'm planning on painting all my stuff G1, even Vortex and Blast Off. And I'll probably have to color match a set for my brother!

Echo, work has kept me busy the last week or so, as I haven't been able to chime in. I actually like the kibble on Vortex, but the thing on Blast Off is just weird looking... Even looking at the game pics, I can't figure it out... Oh well, waiting patiently for this to be released =)

@echo: How about making use of the trailer to become part of the backside of Bruticus? Make it somehow fold up. Do you think it's feasible?

Eagerly awaiting this release. There are many, many Shapeways products I want to buy, but this will be the first.

    So amazingly awesome...

Thanks do much for the positive feedback! I'll finish this 'main kit' first then I'll do some more exclusive tweaks like onslaught later...

Thanks guys. Yeah I agree, IMO the Blastoff parts is needed and helps, (i think the pointy shoulder looks silly) but should have a better and more meaningful sculpt. It was supposed to be a shield. The next on will be better...

    No worries!

@ all other recent posts, thanks for all the support and positive feedback, very, very motivating!!!

    Very, very impressive work.

You might want to reach out to fakebusker83 and see if he'd be interested in doing articulated hands for this, either as part of the main kit or as an additional add-on. Would really make the kit, IMO.

I'm starting to really be fearful that this is going to cost 3 digits on Shapeways...

I doubt it. He had far more parts for the stuff he made for Herc and it was in the mid $70's, if I remember correctly.

Ah yes, I forgot about the metal hip parts, as I forgot to order them with the Full Monty... But most of their cost was due to them being stainless steel...
