So, somewhere on this board is probably a thread with WiP shots of this particular project. Being it was about three years ago, I figured it's probably best to restart. So, going back that three years, I had set out and pretty much finished the repainting of a gray Shackwave into a more cartoon-colored Shockwave. I used a Krylon Decor Satin Plumb latex spray that, sadly, they don't make anymore. In fact, I nearly ran out while painting this guy and couldn't find any even then. Still, I got the job done. Only problem was--and it was pointed out quite often on various boards--he still had the Shackwave trigger. The...erm...really endowed one. Well, I met 'nok from here at '2005 while at Botcon. The need for the trigger had come up, and it turned out he had one. So thanks in great part to 'nok, I can finally call this repaint COMPLETE. 'Cool pose' time. And some fun effects: Finally, some gunmode pics: Another cool aspect of this trigger piece is that all the gray Shackwave parts are molded the exact same color as the gray Shockwave parts. So, everything works together perfectly. I've always enjoyed how the paint came out on this guy, (never had to worry about paint scratching when transforming him, it's really sturdy stuff!) but having him "done" is a very nice thing. Hope you guys enjoy. Edit: Updated more pics for the gallery. Here's one of the fun ones.
that toy is already win on its own but you my friend have made it amazing. that purple is perfect, its a shame they dont make it anymore
Shockwave, you can't shoot for shit! kidding aside, this looks really really nice. The colors are perfect. Do the electronics still work?
DAMN! I've never owned a G1 Shockwave (or ever seen one in person in its full 3 dimensions), but I've seen pictures. And judging from what I've seen, this shade of purple is far superior to the one actually used in G1 Shockwave. Great paint job!
Thanks guys! I'm thoroughly pleased with this particular guy. And even though I've had him painted for three years, it's just cool to get this guy off my to-do list. I actually don't plan on painting the hands. I suppose I could paint the right one, but for now I plan on leaving it be. The lights do. Actually, when I took him apart and reassembled him, the sounds cut off. But they were blaringly (made that up) annoying anyway. And the lights still switch between the rapid pulse and fade-out.
wow, he really did turn out great, and it was worth the wait! (not that I would want to do so if we were doing it all over again! ) Now, take 7 more pictures so you can submit it to the gallery!!
Thanks! Well, got more pictures added, including a couple of fun ones. PLUS, I threw in one of the WiP shots from long ago.
