I have. And I'm still not understanding what the heck you mean.

The main topic of this thread was all about the idea if TF's chose their gender or not. Then, when you're saying how everything is a variation on G1, you drop that line in. All I can make out of it is some kind of criticism on the economy and people sucking up because of personal computers. And NONE of that relates to Transformer genders or them having a choice about the matter.

You keep claiming there is some connection, but you don't go into detail about it and tell me it's right before my eyes, that I must suck at business or something. I can't see how refusing to clarify part of your argument can in ANY way support what you say. Looking back, you claim you can't even elaborate on the connection without going off topic, but if it's to support your argument then it is, in a way, ON topic, because it supposedly connects economics to Transformer genders.

EDIT: And for the sake of staying on topic, I just remembered TF: Energon actually might have had a relevant detail. In the show (one of the few eps I somehow ended up watching), Arcee's introduction has Optimus specifically mention she was the first Omnicon to "Evolve" from the effects of Energon or some crap like that. I don't think they ever went into super-specifics, but as she was pretty much the only female Transformer in the show, much less the only female Omnicon I can recall out of the clone armies of Strongarms and whatever the jet guy was named.

So now we're discussing the probability that Arcee is a tranny? Dafuq...

For true. One of Furman's singular worst ideas out of the entire "-ations" period of IDW.

Yes, god forbid Hasbro try to be inclusive towards groups of people and not alienate sections of the population in their space robot fiction. That for-profit publically traded company MUST be all about the money.

Definitely not one of his finest moments in any respect, but I sort of have to give him props for finding a way to include Arcee without completely compromising his "Cybertronians are genderless!" position.

To be fair, it's kind of hard not to go there when Arcee underwent a nonconsentual "gender" reassignment surgery. Since Arcee was originally non-gendered or whatever and was made into a "female" she technically is transgendered.

This whole part of canon is awkward, you mean. :lol  Don't blame me, blame Mr. Furman.

I really wish they'd stop going to him to introduce female Transformers into the mythos. It's pretty obvious that he hates the idea.

Yeah, basically their alt-forms are to them no different from any purely organic shapeshifter's "alt-forms" from any other fantasy or sci-fi fiction.

I love Furman's work usually, but I agree with the last several posts here - they need to stop having him deal with female cybertronians, because it always sucks. I'm glad at least that the writers after him are slowly pushing Arcee's origins to the side. Too bad they're keeping the psychotic complete monster personality though.

    To reiterate:
Transformers by their nature are gender affective not actually gendered.
I cannot point out enough that they reproduce through a complex process
using external machinery. Their gender is literally a matter of how they
appear structually and act. Strika did not look particularly feminine physically
in BMac or Animated but she certainly was gendered in her personality and
    voice programming.

Sadly the oft maligned Transformer origin in G1 Season 3 covered the gender
issue really effectively. to summarize: The Autobot's ancestors were a
consumer line of service robots. They were manufactured in a masculine
model and feminine model to appeal to the civilian market. The Decepticon's
ancestors were designed for combat and and had more "utilitarian" battle
design and were built in only a masculine shape.

The more recent concept is more in line with Hirofumi Ichikawa's idea
from 'Transformer Chronicles'. That the allspark favors diversity and will
make it's "children" in an ever expanding variety to increase the chances of
the species ongoing survival. This variety includes "genders".
