Well we got several severe weather warnings going on but I want to complain about one type.. The Cable company ones. there are two types they do that are a total pain in the ass.. Doesn't matter what channel you are on you will get these. 1. The screen goes to a solid blue screen with "Severe Weather Warning. Turn to a local channel for more info". and you get a loud tone. 2. The other is even more of a pain in the ass. You get alarm warnings, an info bar pops up displaying counties affected, and the only sound you get it the digitized Nat. Weather Service voice saying info. There is no way to turn either off. I turned the TV on to find the second type and turned to my local NBC station, but I couldn't hear what the weather guy was saying because of the NWS voice. They really need to make that as an option that can be turned off.
I think Louisville is about to get pwned by mother nature, just like last January... *SIGH* I guess that's what happens when it's below freezing one day then 70 degrees two days later.
What's really nice is when they have a news story saying that a dam may fail if it continues to flood, then after everyone's at work, recinding the story without much word on the topic.
Yeah, ain't gonna happen any time soon. http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/eas.html There are a few phone numbers at the bottom of the above link you could try calling, though.
We're starting to get the rain here now in east central Kentucky. We've had high winds (about 30-40 mph rough guess) all day, but now it's really starting to beat down out there.
It has been raining since Sunday with weather reaching up to 9 degrees Celsisius... (reminds me of the ice storm we had in Quebec in '98, hopefully that won't happen) :/
We get warning every once in a while..... and they're usually always flash flood warnings.... we don't get much weather here.
You know... there is a reason why you can't turn them off. But, you should be able to complain somewhere if they are being excessive. And really, it's not like this is something new either. It's been around for decades, probably longer than most of us here have been alive, and possibly some folks parents.
Had some pretty heavy rain and wind here early this morning. And apparently, the place I work at is running on generators.
