Congrats on getting the new album man, I can't wait to get mine on the first. Next and Alpha definitely doesn't have the old school Sevendust sound but with Clint Lowry gone I expected as much and like the albums for what they are. In fact they've grown on me a lost recently. Unfortunately Morgan hasn't won drummer of the year more than once (he did back in 2004 for 'Best Metal Drummer' and 'Best Recorded Performance' for Seasons in the Modern Drummer Reader's Poll) but he deserves it. Then again I'm biased since he's one of my person drum heros. I'm also glad they found a new label. When I met them back in May of 2004 Vince wouldn't say a whole lot about what was going on with that whole mess but he did say they definitely weren't happy with their current situation at the time. I hope their success grows since they're awesome musicians and totally cool guys. The only one I haven;t had a person expereince with is Sonny since Clint was still with them in 2004, but based on what I've seen in interviews and the DVDs that came with Next, Alpha and Retrospective 2 he's great as well.
Sweet. I'll have to see if I can "obtain" it too
Nice review there man. May have to check that out.
Is Sonny still with the group? I always thought he was a perfect fit with them.
Sweetness. I'll have to check this out. Can't go wrong with Sevendust.
Haven't listened to them since Home. Might have to give em a listen again.
Yep, he replaced Clint Lowry in 2005.
Seasons is IMO their best album. Every song is killer. Animosity is great too, I never get tired of Praise. And like I said up above their recent discs are good, just a different sound than the older albums since Clint left the group.
Ok, this thread has me super hyper about the new album. Can't wait until they come through Boise again, they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
The new album goes back towards Seasons and Animosity. There's only one or two songs that seem to lack a good chorus. There's a few "angry" songs, but they have melody unlike Alpha and Next.
The music seems a bit loud. Almost Christian rock. Thanks but no thanks.
It's like hot butter on the nipples
I haven't listened to Sevendust since Home (which I really like). After reading this review I might just check out this new one.
I don't mean to keep bumping this thread, but Sevendust just sent out a bulletin on Myspace saying that Clint was back...more details to come. Crazy.
Clint Fucking Lowry is back!
He was the lead guitarrist and backup vocals and left after Seasons while on tour and started his own band. Sonny was picked up but now his information is missing from the Sevendust website.
Sevendust is back 100% Woot!
I'm excited too. Sonny was a good replacement, but having Clint back will ice the already tasty cake.
