I honestly don't know about this. I'll just have to wait and see what this adaptation shows off.

As much as I enjoyed TMNT, it did leave me wondering, 'exactly what did all this have to do with the Turtles?'

If it is like that, then I don't know if it will be any good. And, Nick's last Ninja Turtles version isn't exactly spewing confidence.

It will be there, but one of those hidden jokes that get passed the censors. It is a Nick movie after all.

You say "one of the ninja turtles" but we all know it's Michaelangelo.

Just to note: I liked Out of the Shadows, mainly cause the turtles were more involved and it was fun.
    The first movie was meh...

God it seriously pisses me off that the 4Kids series always has to be the forgotten version of TMNT:

"Following Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launch in 1984 as a comic book, it was followed up by a hit 1987-1996 animated TV series, as well as a billion-dollar selling retail juggernaut across toys, apparel, video games, and more. New Line released three live-action movies between 1990-1993 which grossed $323.2M WW.

Nickelodeon brought the franchise to life again in 2012 with the CG-animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and then reimagined the Heroes in a Half-Shell with the 2D-animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year." - ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Getting Pic Reboot From Nickelodeon & Seth Rogen’s Point Grey – Deadline

I'm sorry but Nickelodeon is NOT responsible for bringing the franchise "back to life".

4kids TMNT was my favorite, I hate it is the red headed step child now. I think it has something to do with rights. Sad either way, it would be great to have a complete Blu Ray boxset release.

TMNT 2007 wasn’t good, but I can’t deny it has a special place in my heart. I just don’t want this to be like an overly safe, pandering animated movie like we’ve been getting with Frozen II, Trolls, Ugly Dolls, Minions, Grinch, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and more. I want this to really be cool. TMNT 2007 wasn’t very original and suffered from writing flaws and pretentiousness, but I’d take it in a heartbeat over the animated film stuff we’ve been getting the last few years. Give me something like Coco or Klaus.

Seth Rogen is cool and funny, I actually really like him when he’s not being a dude bro like when he was Pumbaa or Mantis.

Ugly Dolls had Doll Hitler sending other dolls to be shredded alive, because they were ugly/imperfect like him. Not exactly what I'd call safe.

I'm sure James Franco will voice Michelangelo. I'm sure Jonah Hill and Paul Rudd will have voices too. Probably all those Apatow flunkies will.

I remember being told that it was because of complicated rights issues that's what's stopping the 2003 TMNT series getting more exposure since it's debut thus they couldn't really expose the 2003 TMNT series a lot more even if they wanted to.. Which is a real shame cause otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if Nick found a way to milk off it's popularity like it is with the other TMNT series it has under it's belt.

Nickelodeon/Viacom has the rights to the 2003 series. They've released a handful of bargain bin DVDs from it since the buyout. Even if they don't have absolutely all the rights to it, that's shows they can work it out easily enough.

I recall reading that it "doesn't fit their current vision." So probably there's some exec who just didn't like it.

The 2003 series was the B:TAS of TMNT. The Nick series is honestly very overrated IMO. I never felt the show ever hit its stride.

    Didn't they eat each other?

You could do a sequel with a different cast though.
