BBC News - Family Guy writer Seth MacFarlane wants show to end

I've loved the show since it started, but the last few seasons have put me in complete agreement with this.

Should never have come back in the first place. Everything before it came back was gold, everything since it has come back has been very "meh".

It's surreal how the creator/writer/half the voices can't just end it himself, evidently.

I'd suggest they should scrub the other two as well, but then he'd just come up with American Guy and Family Dad.

Remember that one time *blah* *blah* then *80's show/cartoon scene*

    Every episode.

Season 4 was when it was dead to me.

I am still a little surprised that they ever gave him more shows, even more surprised that anyone even watches them.

Just shows how out of touch I must be with what is perceived as "funny" or "entertaining" these days. Just like I can't stand pretty much anything on Adult Swim these days either.

You're not alone. The only program on Adult Swim I even watch anymore is Robot Chicken, and even that's starting to get a little repetitive.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. It's a plotless show that relies on shit, random writing to carry it. It should never have come back from cancellation. And what's worse, American Dad and the Cleveland Show are all the exact same thing as Family Guy.

Can them all, says I. We're better off.

Not true. The show has been hit and miss for it's entire run. And the first run tended to have a lot of reference jokes that I didn't get. Now while it still has jokes that fall totally flat, I always get where it's coming from. And the Stewie/Brian over the top cartoon episodes are the best they've done.

American Dad is the best of the 3, consistantly. And has been for a long while.

To be fair most adult swim stuff is shit. Superjail is one of the worst shows I've ever seen. The best stuff they have is Robot chicken, and the Venture Brothers. But both of them rely on you knowing what they're parodying.

This. I still watch A.D. occasionally, Family Guy on the other hand...

Gonna miss the chicken fights, tho.

I'm in agreement here. It never should have come back in the first place. For the first three seasons it had decent jokes, but post-revival it's been the "Seth MacFarlane Ego Testament Half-Hour".

As for his other shows, Cleveland should never have happened at all, but I don't mind American Dad too much.

i love the show, but hes right, it needs to end while its still somewhat decent. Lord knows we dont want it to become what the Simpsons has.

At least he's not stupid/greedy like Matt Groening is. The Simpsons should have ended 10 years ago, it's hasn't been funny for a very long time. Family Guy has lost it's edge, Seth knows that and he wants to move on, if only Matt could learn from him and end his show too.

Seems to me he wants Family Guy to go out on a high note, that's the best any creator could want for their show. I have no idea what MG is trying to accomplish, other than make tons of money.
