Sesame Str: Big Bird, Mr Snuffallupagus, the Count, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Herry, Bert and Ernie, and the Cookie Monster. The Muppets: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Animal, Statler and Waldorf, and the Swedish Cook. Which do you pick? For me, it’s the Muppets. The Sesame Street residents are nice and are more timeless than the Muppets (they’ve been around since 1969, while the Muppets are very stuck to the 1970s era), but the Muppets have better appeal as they reach to more adults as well as children. Where else could there be an alien with a fixation on chickens (Gonzo, I think it was confirmed), an over-patriotic eagle, a Swedish chef who tries to kill his ingredients, a sad bear, and most awesomely a pig diva and have them all star alongside a top celebrity (Ethel Merman, Roger Moore, Bob Hope – all 70s stars, like I said) and make it work? Here are some of their best moments: Rudolph Nureyev at Muppet Show - YouTube (Rudolph Nureyev, the greatest dancer of his time, dancing with a pig puppet. This rates a 9.5 on my holy-slag-o-meter) Swedish Chef - Frog Legs - YouTube (Bork Bork Bork) Muppet Show - Muppet Labs - Beaker Gets Multiplied - YouTube (one of Muppet Labs’ most troublemaking inventions) Kermit the frog - its not easy being green - YouTube (a sad song) crazy drum battle with the animal and belafonte - YouTube (DRUM FIGHT!)
Out of the two in the poll? Easy, The Muppets. I can still watch and enjoy The Muppets. That and the only thing I ever really enjoyed from Sesame Street was the Count. That said, both are beaten out by FRAGGLE ROCK. Though you can get the best of all three with A Muppet Family Christmas... ...assuming you either already own a copy, or are willing to pay out the @$$ for it...
I'm not voting because as has been said already. Despite now being owned by two different companies, Sesame Street and The Muppets are both the same thing. Hell, Kermit was originally on Sesame Street.
Yeas. Same thing. But which show do you like better? I like Sesame Street much more than The Muppets. It's so much more colorful & fun like a live action activity book. The characters I feel are far more endearing Ernie, Snuffy, Mr Hooper, Gordon etc. Sesame Street is also just that: Street.. a dingy ass block that looks like my neighborhood.. having Keith Harings artwork in the closing credits is another bonus
The Muppet Show is one of the funniest television shows ever created, right up there with Monty Python's Flying Circus. So I'm gonna go with the Muppets!
You should be asking 5 year olds this question. When I was 5, No fucking question, SESAME STREET!! But now that I'm 30ish......Muppets, only because the Muppets are a "show" and not a learning tool for 5 year olds. But fuck, Sesame Street is a part of my childhood, so I can't vote against them.
