    I'm surprised that Optimus has the rank of Prime even though he washed out of the Academy. I guess it doesn't matter. Maybe they'll explain that in a later episode.

    It looks like the rank of "Prime" is the equivalent of the rank of "Captain".And Optimus was the "Captain of the crew he was leading.
