what is his name? because most sources call him Sentinel Prime, but i have yet to hear them use the term "Sentinel Prime" even once. now i could be wrong, but i dont think i am. did they ever refer to him as Sentinel Prime? im beginning to think his name is merely Sentinel. and here he is, for those who are confused as to who i mean: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Sentinel_Prime_(Animated)
Officially, his name is Sentinel Prime, but most bots seem to just call him Sentinel for short (like how Optimus Prime is often referred to as just Optimus, or Prime.)
i see your point, but all im saying is that he is never called Prime. like ever. i was just wondering if maybe his name could be just Sentinel.
Torque may be onto something. For the longest time, we were all convinced the Triceratops would be called Slag, but Hasbro easily swapped his name without breaking continuity because it was never stated hitherto. For all we know, Sentinel isn't a Prime.
Err... isn't Prime an Autobot rank? Hence, we get Rodimus Prime (and to a lesser extent, depending on continuity - Christ, I'm bored - Nemesis Prime, and Wheelimus Prime in lil'formers). We've only seen Brad in flashbacks (so far) with Optimus, way before either becomes a Prime, Optimus gets the cold-shoulder and the demolition job, and Brad joins the Elite Guard (I'm sure that doesn't count as a spoiler). Or, get yerself some G1 - in informal or personal situations with other Autobots, he is known as 'Optimus'; when on duty or under fire Prowl or Ironhide will call him 'Prime' (pr. 'Praahm'); Megatron will always call him 'Prime'. An enjoyable touch. Which always had me wondering, as a kid with no guardianship beyond a video player, whether 'Ultra' or 'Magnus' denoted a rank. So here's to IronPrime, Ultrajumper, and Cosmo Magnus one day.
The difference is, hasbro has stated officially that his name is Sentinel Prime. Slag was always just the fans guessing. Officially, his name is Sentinel Prime. Sentinel Prime is what (I believe, though not 100% on this part) his trademark is.
There can be only one Prime Supposed to be anyway, looks like they went a different direction with no matrix or something.
When? I don't remember any such statement. Either way, if his full name wasn't mentioned in the show, anything's possible.
Yeah but he only got the name after Optimus was killed(the king is dead, long live the king and all that)
In most if not all incarnations of transformers as far as I know there is only one Prime at a time (guess I should have been more descriptive) which is whoever holds the Autobot Leadership Matrix. Course Ultra Magnus never turned into Ultra Magnus Prime but he never opened the dang thing or something, who knows. I never watched any of the Japanese stuff though.
In Japan, there was a whole senate full of Convoys, and Convoy (Optimus Primal), Leo Convoy and Big Convoy all existed simultaneously.
Cybertron also had a Convoy for each planet (Galaxy Convoy for Cybertron, Live Convoy for Earth, Nitro Convoy for Velocitron, Flame Convoy for Animatron and Megalo Convoy for Gigantion).
Convoy and Prime are the same term, the term is given to whoever carries the Autobot Leadership Matrix (which signifies the Autobot Sumpreme Commander) but sometimes it is given as an honorary title. Weirdly not all Supreme Commanders have taken the last name Prime such as Fortress Maximus or Star Saber. The Decepticon equivalent is Emperor of Destruction.
