I don't know if it's because he is in a unknown world, but Optimus too was in a unknown world when he came to Earth in TF1. But when Prime said the last phrase he said that Sentinel was their leader, was he Orion Pax at during that time? or he got his upgrade but waiting for the Matrix to be passed to him?
No. It just means that Sentinel was in command until he either randomly crashed into the moon or passed it on to someone else. Optimus was always Optimus, since the matrix was stuck on Earth tons of years before any descendant Prime even showed up. Also I'm pretty sure in the movie transformers are born Primes, not made Primes.
